No political discussion in this topic. That is complaining about a country, a politician, a party and/or its voters, etc

Went to the gym earlier and was chatting to a woman there who's quite high up in the NHS. She says they've been told we'll go into full lock-down mode imminently and schools closed etc. I've no reason not to believe her so popped in Aldi on my way back and bought a few extra bits as you do like.

Yesterday I had a number of VC sessions with clients in Ireland and apparently as soon as they announced the schools were closing, people shot off down the supermarkets and the car parks were full within minutes. Sounded like total chaos.

In other news, I had a VC 121 today with a client who's the FD of a medium sized company. Poor bloke broke down in tears half way through because he's being asked by his shareholders/investors what the implications are of all this and he obviously hasn't got a clue. The pressure and uncertainty just got to him and he totally melted :(

Was talking to someone who works at the Royal and she said that the face masks, which are normally £100 for a box of 100, are now over £800 a box. Which is disgusting!

In the bizarre category, went to do our weekly shopping and amongst the many things sold out were sanitary towels and tampons. Does Corona make your period come more frequently or something? Cos I don't think so.

:D

Funny cos on our way back from the Gym today we went and had a mini panic buy session in Aldi and the wife was piling sanitary towels into the trolley.

I can only assume it's worry that the shops might be closed when the decorators are in :dunno:

You need to challenge her on this behaviour, period.

The good news is she's getting close to the menopause now so that'll be a few quid saved every month

Proof that we can all find something to look forward to, even in these darkest of hours.

250 deaths in Italy today. How soon will Vallance and Whitty be replaced by people who can give the UK government advice that'll prevent this country drifting towards disaster?

This is nuts. The world's gone crazy in the space of a couple of weeks

Just been in tesco. No bog roll, pasta, eggs, baked beans, tinned tomatoes.

Luckily not sold out of beer though

I've just got back and  it was ok actually, apart from people scowling at each other for buying too much when hardly anyone was doing  anything out of the ordinary.

250 dead in a day is just crazy, can't see how we avoid something similar bar the age in population difference hopefully being enough to at least keep it to figures a least bit less than that.

Some lovely Britishness though - there was one carton of eggs left. Me, along with several others were looking at them, but no one wanted to be the guy who took them so we all just walked past!

Some reasons to be slightly more optimistic.

A bloke was telling me yesterday that he keeps "about 700 kg" of dried pasta, rice, pulses etc etc at home, enough to last about 6 months.

Nothing to do with either the Corona virus or Brexit. Just what he does anyway

Yes I guess so but I'm somewhat concerned out testing, which is now out the window for all but the most serious questions, hasn't been brilliant.

That said the death toll is still very low and hopefully it stays that way.

700kg? I can't even imagine what that must look like! And what does he stock to go with it all??

From what I know about that the menopause is definitely not something that’s good news. Plenty of self isolating will be needed. RIP Izzy.

Apparently it's hot flushes, mood swings and lack of sex drive but without all the the blood :dunno:

There is no point of testing everyone...........

That wasnt Really the  pressure in the question, but more or less is the USA willing to make testing available for every citizen

no matter what their Medical Financial/cover Status is..
