Ashley Posted 29 January 2020 Posted 29 January 2020 It still hurts after last night but it isnt all doom and gloom. We have a young squad. A very young squad infact. IF and it's a big IF we can keep this Squad together and improve it too we will do great things. Things like last night happen for a reason, we absolutely battered them over two legs but the 3 shots they actually had on target won them the semi-final. On any other given day we would have won that on aggregate by 3, 4 or even 5 goals. Let Villa have their moment. We are third in the League and one game away from a FA Cup Quarter Final. Let's back the lads for the rest of the Season. Onwards and upwards. One Love 🦊
Marshall Cockney Fox Posted 29 January 2020 Posted 29 January 2020 So true. Let's not let the Haribo cup loss define this season. The top four finish and FA cup trophy will be what is remembered in years to come!! Keep the Faith
coolhandfox Posted 29 January 2020 Posted 29 January 2020 Great post.. People should remember, where we were and how far we have come in the last 10 years. Maybe have a look at West Ham, Sunderland, Portsmouth pause and think.........
Xen Posted 29 January 2020 Posted 29 January 2020 We've got a very young squad who - despite having a recent blip in form - are still comfortably in the top 4 of the Premier League. We're on track for our second-best finish since 1929. We've (finally) found a striker who genuinely seems capable of taking over the reigns from Vardy when he eventually starts slowing down. We have a manager who despite some tactical errors has proven to be a good fit for the club and is getting the best out of a lot of young players, as well as engaging the fans. We have three academy products in the first team (two of whom start consistently). We've got a state-of-the-art training facility being developed that will be one of the best on the continent, and a stadium expansion (plus surrounding area development) in the pipeline not long after that. Despite faltering in a painful way last night (due to some clinical finishing and an excellent GK performance) that was still our best cup-run since we won the league cup 20 years ago. In terms of game-play, we were definitely the better side over the two legs. Obviously the result doesn't reflect that, but still a lot of positives to take from the performances. Lots of reasons to be optimistic going forwards. This very moment feels deflated, but as a club we're in an excellent position and we're looking at a very bright future ahead of us.

sheffield_fox Posted 29 January 2020 Posted 29 January 2020 Hopefully this will spur them on to do better in the FA cup, which I think we'd all prefer to do well in over the league cup anyway.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 29 January 2020 Posted 29 January 2020 Why do we all talk down the League Cup, when it's the only cup we've ever won?
crisp packet Posted 29 January 2020 Posted 29 January 2020 Hopefully people realise champions league isn’t a given neither. agreed... “ let’s back the lads”

Ian Nacho Posted 29 January 2020 Posted 29 January 2020 People need to calm down. Yes, we weren’t amazing last night, but if luck wasn’t on Villa’s side, we would have been 3-0 up after 20 minutes.
st albans fox Posted 29 January 2020 Posted 29 January 2020 a sad indictment on this forum that this thread is required. unless there are far more under sixteens on here than i imagined, the amount of drivel posted over the past eighteen hours is pathetic. i get that you are pissed off, angry, devastated ….. there is simply no need to come on here and shout about it - it does nothing for the future of the club, forum or fans. criticise if you must but please be constructive. if i was one of our players reading what some of the fans think of me and the team, i wouldn't be hanging around to earn less than i could elsewhere ……. 15/16 showed us what can be achieved if we all pull together in the same direction. khun vichai would be sad to see how entitled some of us have become ….. humility and perspective in short supply !!!!!!!!!!

Yes, we weren’t amazing last night, but if luck wasn’t on Villa’s side, we would have been 3-0 up after 20 minutes. Agree but it wasn’t luck, it’s a skill issue. Their goalkeeper made three saves in the first half that he had no business making and our keeper let one in that had no business going through him. Goalkeepers are an important part of the team, ours put in a 4/10 performance and theirs put in a 10/10 performance. Swap them round and we’d have won at a canter. Schmeichel has been immense for us in big games in the past but he picked a bad night to have a poor game yesterday.
Yes N'Didi Posted 29 January 2020 Posted 29 January 2020 Villas performance over two legs reminded me of our away game at Sevilla. Saved a penalty, conceded chance after chance after chance but stayed in the game and ultimately over two legs we snuck over the line on aggregate (also ironically 3-2). We didn't have a god given right to have been in the final and ultimately despite our chances over two legs we just were not clinical enough. We have a massive game Saturday to get behind the lads. I would hope the senior figures in the dressing room have had their say and told the players to clear their minds. I feel if we win this game we can really kick on with the season. Lose it again, and that Wolves away game gets a lot tougher, and we could be at risk of de-railing. Let's get behind this team.
Suzie the Fox Posted 29 January 2020 Posted 29 January 2020 Brilliant post, I am very proud to be a Leicester supporter and although last night hurt massively & we didn't win, we were by far the better team. If someone gave me the option of being a Villa fan and going to Wembley in the Caraboa cup or being a Leicester fan and sitting 3rd in the best league in the world with the team we have. I know for sure which one i would choose and i bet the majority of you guys would too. If you are down & upset i would suggest you go read some of the pre season threads and what me, you & others wanted for 2019/20. A big chunk wanted top 6 and a decent cup run. Well expectations are over and above that and we are still in the FA cup which without being dismissive of the Caraboa cup, is the cup all LCFC wants.

Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 29 January 2020 Posted 29 January 2020 Use it as a lesson. Take the FA cup seriously and let's get to another semi final I'm well against semi finals at Wembley but I'm desperate to see us at the new Wembley in a competitive game. Probably that's why I was so disappointed in last night... just want that Wembley trip
StriderHiryu Posted 29 January 2020 Posted 29 January 2020 Great post. This is actually the best Leicester team I have seen in my lifetime, even better than the 15/16 title winners. Last night we played some sensational stuff at times and were desperately unlucky. I don't even feel as down as I did when Troy Deeney scored after Knocky missed his penalty in the play-off semi-finals... that felt like we might never get back to the Premier League whereas today I feel like better times are just around the corner. This is a learning process for the team and fans. We are all gutted not to make the final because it was a golden opportunity but it's motivation to put it right next time round! Up the Foxes!
Pliskin Posted 29 January 2020 Posted 29 January 2020 The only way you get experience to grow is in defeat. Failures are merely character building opportunities, and present further opportunities to progress in the future. We’ve got a philosophical coach who cares about his players, the club and his style. We’re in good hands, last night hurt, but we as fans need to accept events like this, as tough as they are and get behind the lads. Villa thought they turned their place into a fortress, well let’s do the same V Chelsea, they’re coming to our place, and we’re taking three points of them.
