talking_goldfish Posted 8 September 2020 Posted 8 September 2020 (edited) Article 1 https://www.butfootballclub.fr/asse/mercato/asse-mercato-fofana-diony-boudebouz-les-tout-derniers-details-435705 Quote SSE - MERCATO: THE VERY LAST DETAILS OF THE FOFANA, DIONY AND BOUDEBOUZ FILES The degreasing operation launched by ASSE in the transfer window continues with the almost confirmed departure of Loïs Diony from the Angers SCO. We are far from it for Wesley Fofana and Ryad Boudebouz. OL are not the only L1 club to continue with their downsizing. The ASSE will indeed soon get rid of Loïs Diony. The team ensures that Angers' interest in the Greens striker will succeed. Priority of SCO coach Stéphane Moulin, the 27-year-old scorer will engage in the coming hours with the SCO, with whom he will sign for a period of three years. Courted too, abroad, Wesley Fofana should not budge this summer. As already explained by But !, the Made In Foot site confirms that the 19-year-old stopper does not wish to leave ASSE. "The latest rumors have surprised those around him who deny any desire to leave, slip our colleagues. He prefers to do a full season in his training club with Claude Puel. Leicester's interest, however, is very real." Article 2 https://www.butfootballclub.fr/infos-but/asse-info-but-mercato-fofana-a-leicester-c-est-chaud-entre-puel-et-les-dirigeants-435741 Quote ASSE INFO GOAL! - MERCATO: FOFANA IN LEICESTER, IT'S HOT BETWEEN PUEL AND THE LEADERS Leicester's interest in 19-year-old Wesley Fofana is very real. According to our information, this would even give rise to some internal frying. Wesley Fofana has become the hottest subject of the ASSE transfer window. Without counting the cases of players on whom Claude Puel does not count this season, the central defender could set sail by October 5! Goal! is in fact able to confirm that Leicester has made a recent offer to secure its services this summer. This is between 25 and 30 million euros and higher than that formulated by AC Milan (18 M €), where Fofana had visited the facilities this winter. To this day, and even though the 19-year-old hitchhiker feels good in Saint-Etienne, the Foxes' interest gives him pause as he sees his future in England (rather than Italy). Puel vetoed Problem: Claude Puel vetoed the departure of Fofana this summer. An intermediate solution - validated by ASSE and Leicester - would be to sign the player at the English club with an automatic loan this season, like the successful operation with William Saliba at Arsenal. Here too, this option was swept aside by Puel. Right in his boots and turned towards his project, the Castresian wishes to make a point with Fofana ... in a year. Sounds to me like he does want to come and will come, but there's no way we'd loan him back for a season!! Oh Claude EDIT: Wrong link! Edited 8 September 2020 by talking_goldfish 1

FoxinNotts Posted 8 September 2020 Posted 8 September 2020 So what are we collectively thinking (guessing) has happened?... all agreed, €30m, medicals done, Puel not happy with Benkovic on loan (not enough qualiteee) and this is holding up the deal? would explain Benko’s absence from the friendly at the weekend 1
Popular Post Shane Posted 8 September 2020 Popular Post Posted 8 September 2020 (edited) I wouldn't be surprised if our owners are on good terms with Puel (at least on a professional level). I don't think they're the type to burn bridges. For example, Pearson was still trusted with the Leuven job, they said Shakey will always be welcome at the club, Claudio was invited to the Burnley game when Vichai sadly passed.. Maybe the negotiations for Fofana have been quite smooth because of our owners professional relationship with Puel. Edited 8 September 2020 by Shane 6

Leeds Fox Posted 8 September 2020 Posted 8 September 2020 Why would we be dealing directly with Puel? Their board may ask if he’s happy with a player going out on loan to them, but surely that isn’t going to stop them from accepting £27m. 1
Grebfromgrebland Posted 8 September 2020 Posted 8 September 2020 Anyway we need him and another centre back. Jonny Evans is injured now too.

Fofana following us last week, unfollowing us, following Papy Mendy then unfollowing him too is surely a sign that the club have agreed personal terms with him and he's gone to ask Mendy what Leicester's like. We're now at the stage where St. Etienne are media posturing to make it look like they tried their best to extract a big fee from us and tried to keep him, and City are just trying to bring the fee down or talking to them about instalments and so on. We have seen deals like this before - from whispers I heard the club sorted Dennis Praet's contract in July and it then took them a couple of weeks, in between sorting Maguire out and other deals, to negotiate the fee. I'm not ITK fwiw but this would be typical City. And ASSE need a replacement. What you describe is the reality of a transfer deal. There was a lot of talk about Ajax signing Braian Cufre, a left-back from Velez in Argentina. It's yet to happen. If it did, Tagliafico is open to go.

He’s the head coach Naturally he’ll have input into comings and goings, but, ultimately it’s up to the club it’d be plain odd if he was pleased about losing a young talent….

I think that might be because we look much more closely at our club than all the others, partially. Much like we think we are done over by former players/players who've not scored for 10 years, that is simply because we notice it more when it happens to us.
