Makes me laugh when people who were actively at the rallies the last few days point to other examples of disorder, be it football related, EDL or whatever. So what, are you saying that both your disorder and their disorder is justifiable? Or it's not justifiable? Because it is absolutely one or the other, either violence at demonstrations is OK or it isn't.

I don't think that justice for victims of rampant paedophiles should depend on bargaining tools and I don't think justice for Harry Dunn should depend on bargaining Prince Andrew. I hate how corrupt this all is in both cases. Yet we're the free democratic west who sneer on China/Middle East. Are we really that much better? Yes, yes we are. Next question. Sounds like it yes! Otherwise i am not sure what they mena here; I suppose it is credible that the lower socio-economic status of BAME people is a factor, and that is linked to racism over time. That's a very confident stance given how little anyone on here might actually know about what goes on in the corridors of power and international relations. Not saying that it isn't true, but I'm not going to stick the life savings on it being absolutely cut and dried true if everything was known either. In terms of international activity as opposed to domestic, anyway.

I think this is a pretty safe bet. Edited 8 June 2020 by Jon the Hat

Stadt Posted 8 June 2020 Share Posted 8 June 2020 Interesting article https://www.spiked-online.com/2020/06/08/these-protests-have-nothing-to-do-with-racism/ Headline is a bit misleading but Inaya Folarin Iman is black and points out that it’s disingenuous for BLM to push the exact same agenda here as it is in the US. Protestors saying “Hands up, don’t shoot” to unarmed British police is just a weird transplant of US social issues. There’s undeniably racism here but we don’t have hundreds of years worth of oppression. The history of slavery, Jim Crow laws, redlining and police brutality aren’t comparable to the UK’s social history.

The police would seem to be the obvious one, but you're right that specifics would be much more useful for people trying to understand the campaign's aims. Seems crazy to me No, not at all. Staying quiet, wherever, social media or not, does not equate to being racist or not caring. There's no obligation for anyone to speak out and you are not a racist for not doing so (you could be racist in other ways but that's not one of them ) Social media has the power to give people a voice but that doesn't mean it's compulsory to do so. It's like saying if you didn't attend a protest this weekend, does that mean you don't care about black lives? Nope!
