The 22-year-old, who has only become a first-team regular this season in Brendan Rodgers’ side, has impressed Jurgen Klopp with his energy and forceful running. Kop boss Klopp also believes there is plenty to come from the England Under-21 international, who previously spent time on loan at MK Dons, Barnsley and West Brom. It was at The Hawthorns last season that Barnes made a big impression – so much so that he was recalled by Leicester during the January transfer window. Liverpool know Barnes can play in various positions, but they will find it hard to prise him from the King Power Stadium. Despite winning the title, Klopp wants to add a forward to his squad and had targeted Wolves ’ Adama Traore, but so far his interest has been rebuffed. That led to interest in Barnes – but Leicester won't let him go cheaply. Klopp is looking for more strength in depth for his squad this summer but has already admitted the club won't spend mega money on bringing in players. Barnes would fit the club's model of buying young players they can develop with good sell-on potential. Moreover he would help boost the club's options further up the field as he could slot in on the left side of the Reds' three-man attack, as well as across the midfield.

st albans fox Posted 26 July 2020 Posted 26 July 2020 Barnes is raw and will develop. If he wants to sit on Liverpool’s bench every now and again for a season or two then that’s his call ......... I doubt he will at this stage of his career. he does fit their running style though needs a lot of work on ball recovery .....

Muzzy_Larsson Posted 26 July 2020 Posted 26 July 2020 True or not I can actually see the logic in this. Barnes with his pace and direct running fits like a glove in terms of Liverpool's style. He's obviously not good enough yet to play every week at Liverpool but by trying to take him now Liverpool will be saying to themselves they could save themselves £30-50m than waiting on him developing at Leicester. His end product needs work but it's only in the last few years Mane for example has really sorted out his finishing so that won't concern Liverpool. Barnes is going to be a fantastic player and his numbers are good for this season, his first full EPL season and there is tons more improvement in him and he seems primed to do that as appears he has his head screwed on. Imo Barnes will go on to have a far better career than both Chilwell and Maddison.

Grebfromgrebland Posted 26 July 2020 Posted 26 July 2020 Let's just make sure his head is turned before a big game. This would be a Liverpool type signing they have a knack of buying talent and making them great. We can't afford to replace him or sell him though.
peach0000 Posted 26 July 2020 Posted 26 July 2020 He's not the finished product by any means but there's clearly a lot of talent there and Liverpool may well want to take a risk on the talent and develop him further. If Barnes was to improve his finishing and composure he could be a 20 goal a season winger and this is something that often comes with age (ie Salah, Sterling etc). I can definitely see why Liverpool would be interested now, when they could afford him rather than a few seasons down the line when we could be asking for silly money.

I call bullisht. I think Barnes would go for 40/50 million where big more these days on a forward player is 80-100 million maybe more.

He has all the raw attributes, if we let him go I’d question why. I did wonder if he’d be our ‘Gerrard’ that one club man.
