Regardless of who's mistake it was, I believe it was a tactical yellow and worth doing. Gotta give the bloke credit for how he continued playing the game with the yellow looming over his head. Could be the difference between challenging Wilf or challenging Hamza for the rest of the season. Would be a nice statement of intent to see him have a blinder.
