EverybodyDannsNow Posted 27 September 2020 Share Posted 27 September 2020 There’s no doubt in my mind that a fully fit Ndidi walks straight into the team but Mendy certainly gives us something that Wilf doesn’t. Mendy has a better first touch and seems to use his low centre of gravity to hold the ball in tight situations. That's a really good press from Man City, for all the world it looks like they're about to win the ball back and be in three or four on three. Really top performance. Little, tiny moments like that in games are what makes top sides, it's the difference between being an average journeyman and a quality player. In fairness, it's easy to forget the guy played over a hundred games for a pretty tidy Nice team and was signed by us as reigning champions on some merit. He had a really tough time with injuries but he's shown a lot of quality so far this season, credit where it's due. Today his performance was in that category. N’Didi will come back in as soon as he is fit but it might not be Mendy he replaces if Papy can keep this up. Rodgers is getting the best out of him. Mendy looks fitter and looks to be understanding exactly what is being asked of him. Just need Rodgers to sort out Barnes's finishing and we'll be one hell of a side!!! He is a totally different type of CDM to Wilf, which I think has tended to blind us to his obvious qualities. I said signing him to a new deal could be the most important business we do in 2020 and you just hope he stays fit as he is integral. My MoTM with Tielemans yesterday, cannot separate them as they worked like mad men together.
