What is with Brendan’s reluctance to rest players!!!! He really doesn’t help himself.

this game was put to bed and he rests Perez rather than getting the cotton wool on JM or youri.

The number of injuries we have seen at the club over the last 3 seasons is nothing short of a joke, yes some have been impact injuries from poor challenges like little Wes and Ricky P. But in the main the majority of the injuries have come through players breaking down and for me that is a real concern that the backroom

team are not putting player welfare first.

Since Rodgers joined the club we have changed the playing surface at the KP, moved to a state of the art training complex and revamped the Medical and Sports Science teams, and yet as we stand today our injury list is potentially at the worst it has ever been.

Whether this is due to over working players, training intensity, poor player preparation or any other issues, what does stand out to me is it looks absolutely rank amateur for a professional football club with the resources we have at our disposal to have such a blatant disregard for its playing assets.

I can’t believe Top, Susan Whelan and Rudkin are overly impressed with seeing millions and millions of pounds worth of talent sat in the treatment room every day. What must be going through the minds of the players who know they have a niggle but continued to be played until they suffer a significant injury lay off.

The handling of Vardy is a classic example, was clearly struggling against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup  and yet ends up on the bench vs City and then plays full 90 against Liverpool again when he finally breaks down and is now out for 8 weeks, shocking treatment of our 35 year old striker.

The way players are flogged until they break down or are brought back too early only to suffer further setbacks is a real cause of concern and cannot be great for morale or the relationship with their Manager.

the situation beggars belief and like others have said I have no doubt we will pick up further injuries in the coming weeks.

I really hope the powers at be are taking note of this and a full review of our training, medical and sports science methods are undertaken as it is clearly costing us every season and the value of our assets must be dwindling with every significant injury we pick up.

Nobody seems to mention Rennie leaving  after so many years and the  numerous  injuries incurred since together with the delay in getting back in action a big feature in winning the league

The game wasn’t put to bed when perez came off

i think he could have made another change in the last fifteen - we only made two sub breaks second half and we can have three.

Castagne has a dead leg that won't go away according to Rodgers. That's a new one.

“I’m waiting on more information from the medical team. He’s got a dead leg where normally with some treatment and some work on that, it goes away but the blood is still continuing to come into the area, which is making it difficult for him.

“He’s had blood drained out of his leg but it keeps coming back, which isn’t so good. I'm waiting to get clarity from our medical team.

“He was out on Friday trying to give it everything, but he was only at 65 per cent really. He was doing everything he could, but he’s played a lot of games back to back, so that’s where that has come from."

.....I thought that a dead leg was as a result of a impact to the nerve and that would be something that would go in a short space of time!!!

Blood coming back into an area seems to be something else and I hope has been correctly evaluated. Reduced blood flow can be part of the problem so not sure how we deal with this.

Looking at our players at the moment, we all seem to be under nourished as they all seem so thin. This photo of Castagne looks like he has lost a lot of weight.

In 2022 you really think players are under nourished?

Is it me or is Rodgers wrong about Castagne? He hasn't played loads at all, he's forever in and out through niggling injuries or being unimpressive.

Yeah, I don't think he has ever recovered from that skull injury at the Euros.

I think he's played a fair bit recently, though, hasn't he? Who else have we had at RB?

I'm sure the upper hierarchy at the club must be making enquiries as to why our injury list has been so bad for so long. I personally think Rodgers has been guilty of playing people when not ready to return or in need of a rest.

Ndidi and Tielemans especially. Soyuncu, Evans and Ricardo also.

Now he has no choice so this vicious cycle may continue for some time unfortunately.

Yeah you're right. He didn't play in the cup vs Liverpool and then was on the bench and came on at half time vs Man City a few days later so perhaps that's where I got that opinion from. Played pretty much every other game though.
