I mean he's not eased him back in has he? One sub appearance and then started and done 90 every game since up to today I think?

You need to come back more gradually from an ACL, particularly a player who relies on endurance and sprints. Awful management, especially when the games come thick and fast.

He had to put a real shift in at Anfield for 90 mins less than 72 hours ago. Where's the sports science?

it was one thing starting him when we were waiting or Riccy to be back but today he left a full back out for Riccy it HAD to be JJ for this very reason

Any players back?

“Wesley will look to train with the squad next week and then it’s about when he can play. JJ is back and playing some games. He was never going to be perfect. Ricky got some game-time, Timothy is still a bit of time away. Vards is still a few weeks away, so is Jonny.”

You mean every game brendan ….

Absolutely no point looking forward to Fofana coming back, he won't be handled correctly and his career is on the line, just like Ricardo's and Justin's are.

Get this cretin out of our club now

Basically nobody expressed concern for number of games for Justin in the match thread before the game or in the pre-match thread

But now there’s out in force to tell us how bad a decision it was to play him. It’s almost as if there’s an agenda…

I fully expected him to be rested today. It was clearly the sensible thing to do.

I just can’t believe Rodgers isn’t learning his lessons. I’m sick of it.

True, but as I contemplated my starting team I thought I’d rest JJ today given he played on Thursday.

It’s not exactly rocket science is it. Just felt like common sense.

Anyone else noticed we never have our subs warming up at half time like other clubs? Just an observation, but I wonder if that's the kind of management that leads to the ongoing problems we're seeing.

And that LB played well when he came on.  No need to rush JJ back to supersede him at all.

Anyone know anything about Justin's injury status.... noticed he was indicating his hamstring when the physio's came on.

In post-match Rodgers said that JJ felt his hamstring tighten, just have to wait to see what the scan says

Rodgers saying a player "felt something in his hamstring" normally results in 4-6 weeks out. Dunno why he doesn't just say he strained his hamstring

it was brought up quite a bit throughout the week going back to the Forest game build up thread.

I didn’t post here about it but I definitely mentioned it to the people I was watching the game with prior to kick off. I was annoyed when JJ was originally injured (even though it was a freak one) just because I thought he should’ve been rested for that FA cup fixture after being run into the ground over the Christmas period. Thought Fuchs would’ve been enough to see out a Brighton second string and he did okay when he came on for him.

I think people are rightly upset because it’s a pattern that’s repeating itself with no signs of any learning or redressing the issue. If JJ (and others who have been rushed back) aren’t injured then you probably don’t have the same complaints on here - true - but he was injured (perhaps avoidably so) and here we are with another potential set back. At a certain point, it’s fair for fans to scrutinise the manager as he’s making the calls. It seems like common sense to usher players back in more gently, especially during a defensive crisis and especially given our “luck” in bringing players back from injury successfully. At a certain point it is no longer hindsight when you have the likely answer staring you in the face. We are not only not getting the most out of our squad due to these problems, but we are putting the livelihoods and careers of these players at risk and potentially devaluing them as an asset from a business perspective. They should be protected and nurtured and surely if we want to continue to attract top young talent then they’ll want to feel like they’ll be taken care of here.

Unbelievable decision to play him 90 mins every game after coming back. Absolutely shocking really it was always coming, hopefully just a tweak but for us even a tweak can finish your season.

Spot on! When people say our injury list is terribly bad luck you have to laugh, this is purely down to mismanagement! Fingers crossed JJ ain’t out for long but chucking him for 90mins every game MUST have been a considered risk. Unreal!

This, Look at the 4 links i've posted. Brendan has an injury crisis at literally every club he's managed at. Without fail.

Maybe not on here but loads were saying it on Twitter.

Bottom line is that Brendan only cares about Brendan. He’s not the sort to sit a better player out to help them rehab an injury he will pick the best line up he can.

Baffling really

I'm pretty sure I remember when Ricardo came back Rodgers talked extensively about easing him back into the side and being careful

This is all in hindsight though. Plenty on here we’re defending Justin playing every game though even when he was costing us a goal every single game. He clearly wasn’t ready to be starting any game let alone every game but plenty were saying to keep playing him into form as there’s nothing left to play for.

the hamstring after ACL is pretty shoddy imo from medical team; the surgery involves using some of hamstring tendon so surely club need to manage this better ffs... especially with all these ACL specialists we supposedly have
