wifes having a stairlift put it on friday, we had a carpenter in today to sand down the windowsill at the top of the stairs to fit in said lift. no i have no idea why, but when he was leaving i said, "cheers, thanks for shaving my wood down"

 :nigel:

Was it to reduce the projecting part of the windowsill to avoid the possibility of a knock from her head?

I've been to a few patients that had the windowsill cut so it was flush with the wall for this reason. Particularly if the stairs were dog-legged and the chair had negotiate a corner.

(BTW, I get the euphemism)

The legal definition and prosecutable range of a crime against humanity should be expanded to include acts that destroy or lead to the destruction of resources that are vitally important to humans of any nation, like crops and potable water.

At the moment, it only appears to include much more direct acts.

Steve Bracknall? Tik tok slaphead footy manager?

Listening to R5 live on BBC, post England match.

It's SO MUCH BETTER without the annoying, self aggrandising fool that is Robbie Savage and his grating voice.

How the feck does he keep getting the gig?

Even the barely tolerable Chris Sutton was better without him.

You'd imagine his sole work purpose currently would be managing Forest Green Rovers?

Yeah, and he mentions them and his managerial role regularly on 606 in an annoying sort of humblebrag way.

A house cat sadly lying deceased on Belgrave Road opposite the college this afternoon. Broke my heart a little bit.

You could take it to a vet for identification. They'll call the owner and tell them the news or should that be mews?

It was in the middle of the middle lane and the traffic was busy, unfortunately. Wasn't there when I went back out of town...

Making mass redundancies is one of the quickest ways to increase the share price.

Also with AI most if these staff aren't needed any more.  Most of these companies will be getting rid of 50-60% of staff over the next few years.

8% not 20%.  I am interested to see you care about bankers now!  Seriously though, while they are doing well, there is increasing competition from much more efficient banks like Macquarie putting a lot of pressure on the big 4, and labour costs have increased quite a lot in the past few years so I am not that surprised.  Even after this they will employ more people than they did 5 years ago.

This fan reaction compilation video to Freo's AFL elimination.

The authentic swearing frustrations really resonate with fans of almost every team. After stadium reaction videos need to be more like this.

I am still pissed off, and I don't even care that much about Freo!  They lost by a point, and that point came from a dodgy ref call of a foul tackling player without the ball. He didn't have the ball because of that tackle.  Nuts.

My youngest (14)  told me a few days ago that his teacher had told him that there are people now alive who will live to 200.  I had to explain that sadly he was only here to make babies. (And to clean up my piss in twenty years). Everything else is waffle.  the conversation continued in a philosophical fashion to the point that evolution surely won’t allow us to live that long for a few hundred years yet.

My mate was in some of the very first episodes. Finds it mad how much it has blown up.

The whole shutting Meadowhall down to manage the numbers buying this shirt was crackers.

Had heard there was a leaked conversation between Putin and Xi Jinping, where they discussed something about organ transplant and increasing life expectancy to 150+ years - so, possibly that..
