blurryface Posted 16 May 2024 Posted 16 May 2024 (edited) rude not to, at this point I was sure he'd be gone after one season - sad for him that he got injured but selfishly very happy he is still here. Edited 16 May 2024 by blurryface 4
StanSP Posted 16 May 2024 Posted 16 May 2024 He's influential on the pitch just as much as off it. He'll be quality next season. 2

Popular Post fox_favourite Posted 15 June 2024 Popular Post Posted 15 June 2024 (edited) He was clearly the best player in the championship by far by ability and intelligence. He was such a good Puel signing! Edited 15 June 2024 by fox_favourite 11

The Portuguese international was a key player as City claimed the Championship title, taking on a hybrid role in Enzo Maresca’s set-up and playing more minutes than he managed in the past three seasons combined. But he has admitted he nearly departed. Offers were on the table for Ricardo, but the desire to play his part in City’s return to the top flight, plus the impact of Maresca, convinced him to stay put. Now he’s looking forward to the battle for survival. It was many things combined. We started badly in the league, confidence plummeted, and it is not easy to change that dynamic. We managed to come back, but suddenly the World Cup arrived in the middle of the season and we went down again. “We tried to change things. In your head you think: 'There are many games left, we have a good team.' You think it's impossible for it to happen, but it happened and it was very hard. It was a very big shock, especially after the recent successes we had achieved. “I received some offers (last summer) and my idea, at first, was to leave, but the pre-season began and my head, little by little, clicked. I saw something different. I liked the team, the new manager. “Also, there was a part of me that wanted to return Leicester to the place they deserved. It’s taken a weight off my shoulders. It was important to move up to the Premier League. “I am calmer than a year ago. The return (to the Premier League) is going to be difficult, but I am excited. We have a team that, if we do things well, can have a calm season.” A £20m signing from Porto in 2018, Ricardo was City’s player of the season in his maiden campaign, flying down the right flank and combining attacking excellence with defensive security. He established himself as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League. But an ACL injury the following year kept him out for some time and he had consistently picked up new problems since. That was until last season, when he started 37 of City’s 46 Championship matches. “It was important to play a full season, without injuries,” he said. “I don't know if my current version is better than the 2019 version because I play in different positions and it is difficult to compare but I am closer than ever to my best level.”
BroughtonFox Posted 15 June 2024 Posted 15 June 2024 Could be a lethal wing back again in Corberans system, Hopefully the injuries are behind him now
StanSP Posted 15 June 2024 Posted 15 June 2024 Just hope he now doesn't want to leave just because Maresca has gone. He can still do a good job for another year or two in the PL.

Having him sit in the middle makes much more sense to me, much less taxing on the body. Edited 15 June 2024 by Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Spelling 4

I still believe the best thing to ever happen for LCFC was that drop to Lge1, I very much doubt the past 10yrs would have panned out like it had without it.
Jazzy_Jeff Posted 15 June 2024 Posted 15 June 2024 Potter would love him. His versatility would be an asset in that kind of system 1

Corky Posted 15 June 2024 Posted 15 June 2024 Hope his injuries are behind him now. A superb player who had lost too much of his career. Last season showed what we had missed.
Popular Post lcfc sheff Posted 15 June 2024 Popular Post Posted 15 June 2024 When he’s fit he’s one of the best players to have played for us, he was at one point probably the best fullback in the prem pre injury 5

SafewayFox Posted 15 June 2024 Posted 15 June 2024 I could actually see us accepting an offer on Ricky. 1) He’s on huge wages 2) His injury record As others said, seems a really nice bloke and before his first injury was way too good for us but whilst I’d be gutted if he went, I’d actually understand the logic behind it too.
whetstonefox Posted 15 June 2024 Posted 15 June 2024 Made me smirk when he said we could have a ‘calm’ season. When does that ever happen?🤣
