Agree Amartey should probably drop out for this even after his heroics last weekend. When we have more of the ball is when he struggles. He's fine when we just need him to defend.

A bench that will likely include Ward, Perez, and one of Cags or Evans feels far better than what we've had for the past couple of games. Slowly getting back to a decent squad.

 

No doubt something will prevent it, but within a few weeks we could conceivably field our strongest XI, minus Justin, and have a bench of Ward, Amartey, Soyuncu, Thomas, Praet, Under, Mendy, Perez, and Iheanacho. When you compare that to past seasons it really shows our progress.

I think a win here is just important because it could open up a gap again. Chelsea have to go to Leeds, then we have Arsenal-Spurs, West Ham-Man Utd, and Wolves-Liverpool. Even Everton have a potentially tricky game against Burnley - they're not usually very good against teams that play in the same pre-historic style as them.

 

We have got to put these away. Going into the international break with it all bunched up again could be a real psychological blow.

He defended brilliantly, when he scored didnt he...:celebrate:

I actually thought he had a good game...in both halfs..!!

 

I'll say this again...Amartey makes 1-2 mistakes, he is Toasted on this forum...

Castagna & Ricardo,Ndidi who made several bloopers last week.....are totally ignored....

 

I dont go Chasing players for their mistakes ( Part of football)...But there are many on here, who over-analyse then scrape out & point out every

single scape-goat players mistake to their convenience, then rabbit on about it for weeks....!!!

Oh god, that reminds me. Haven't we lost each game before the international break this season or something like that?

His passing was better than Cags/Fofana last week, esp in the second half when his balls through the lines were excellent. Meanwhile the other two were variously trying Hollywood balls that didn't come off or leaving passes short outside our 18 yard box.

 

I do wonder why the same latitude given the Iheanacho now (just needed more game time) can't be applied to Daniel too. Apparently he's not only comically inept (we do well when he plays despite him), but no amount of game time can improve him.

Notable not much on social media from the club or players this week on the training ground. I wonder if they had a big extended break to start the week after recovery on Sunday
