The draw is all a little too easy... like Villa in the League Cup last year... :sweating:

Not untrue, but I'll take my chances with that over Chelski or Goc help us MC.  They deserve their place but we'll have no one to blame but ourselves if we don't go through.

Take care of business and root like hell for Chelsea.

That’s right and Grittar won the national the same day and he was trained in the County.

Spot on. I remember having a few quid on the ‘great Leicestershire treble’ bet of Tigers, City and Grittar and being blown away that, what I thought was the least likely, had actually come in. It all went downhill from there 😖

The word is that when Lineker was ‘looking the other way’ Dion picked up the Southampton and Leicester balls and warned them up a bit in either hand ..  then ..  moments later ..

You heard it here first ..   but remember .. shhhhhhhh ...

One of the oldest tricks in the book ...    warm up the two balls you want to pull out and hey presto! ..  LCFC versus the Saints ..  amazing luck that the two people involved were Leicester fans ! ..  but SHHHHHH !! ...   we’ve got to keep it quiet ..  if this gets out it will be bigger than Meghangate !! ..

Six Saints players in that Team of the Round for their victory over Bournemouth - and we get just one for our glorious triumph over Man Utd?!?

.....and as for selecting "S. Armstrong"....

I know he likes shooting....

....but he hits the bar too often for my liking...

Not sure that would be sensible. Either have it fully open to anyone or forget ot. The amount of people that would use family members and friends/connections with London postcodes. People would travel anyway.

It'll be season ticket holders only and they have our addresses.

I was there the last time we were in an FA Cup semi final and I remember it well. Huge numbers of cars heading to Birmingham on the M6 with City scarves trailing from the windows, listening to the emergency debate in parliament on the car radio because Argentina had invaded the Falkland Islands the day before, the feelings of hope rising because Spurs announced that Ardiles and Villa would be dropped from the team because of the invasion.

It all seemed too good to be true. The other semi final that day was QPR v West Brom so all we had to do was to beat Spurs and we were a shoehorn to win the cup as a 2nd Division team and get into Europe.

But then it started to rain, Tommy Williams broke a leg, someone scored an own goal (Ian Wilson I think) and we returned to Leicester sadder and wiser men.

Everyone had been to the bookies that week to lay a treble bet on LCFC winning the semi final, the Tigers winning the John Player Cup at Twickenham and Grittar, a Leicestershire trained horse ,winning the Grand National. All 3 events were happening on the same day. Grittar and the Tigers did the business but not for the first time and not for the last time LCFC let us down.

Let's go one better this time and beat Southampton 10-0.

If you'd told me in 1982 that we wouldn't get to an FA Cup semi final for another 39 years I would have believed you.

Who else remembers that day?

I was there, cried my eyes out.  Poor Tommy Williams.

Sorry if missed but when will our home game v the baggies be rearranged for?

We've got plenty of free weeks now we're out of Europe, possibly the midweek after the semi-final?

So we should have Barnes nearing a return by this and Maddison hopefully will be back.

If we can get through this (let's not underestimate these by any means) we should be *fingers crossed* at full strength for the final.

Edit - no JJ of course though.

Great draw.  Fantastic opportunity BUT we'll have to be up for it.  Southampton will likely have nothing to play for and can afford to rest players whilst we're gunning for top 4.

In both 1974 and 1982, we drew by far the best team left in the competition of the 3 other teams.

In 1974, we drew Liverpool (instead of Newcastle Utd or Burnley).

In 1982, we drew Tottenham (instead of West Brom or QPR)

So it's "3rd time lucky" with the draw this year.  BUT with the obvious caveat, that we mustn't take them lightly and think we just need to turn up to win.  (like Villa in the League Cup last year)

Southampton have got some good players, and arguably one of the finest dead-ball specialist in the world.

This will not be easy. They will be thinking they have the best draw too. Likely to be played in an empty or near empty stadium which will be quite a weird experience for the players as Wembley is such a vast arena.  I know they are used to empty grounds but somehow an empty Wembley will be  a bit odd. Biggest game of their careers to date for many of our squad. Who knows who will be fit or injured by then.

I'm hoping it will be brought forward, not put back, as the chasing pack could really close in if we miss a round of games on top of having Man City and West Ham in our next 2 games.

Do we no yet what day the game is gonna be. Need to get work booked off

I dont think so, but my betting would be the Saturday. They will just see our match as the warm up for the 'big game' between Chelsea and Man City.
