Leicester or England

I’m English and as a kid wanted England to win the World Cup/euros. The older I’ve got though, I don’t actually care about them anymore. I find it hard to support a team made up of players I don’t like. I don’t have any passion for international football what’s so ever. Just wondering if any other Leicester fan feels the same ?

Easy answer for me. Leicester.

 

I love International Competitions, especially the World Cup, but I have no interest in England games against the likes of San Marino or some semi side who we should beat about 7-0.

I love a tournament but international football certainly the pointless friendlies and the needless three games that they've decided to up it to during a pandemic (Not sure there were 3 games before pandemic were there? So why it's been up to 3 now is beyond me) as opposed to the usual two games we used to have are just an inconvience.

 

Its the same old argument, I understand games have to be played for qualification, friendlies to 'test things out' but they are an inconvience, simple as that.

 

As i've touched on above how international football, rugby or any other sport for that matter (Out of club bubbles) is being allowed I don't understand either. Needless.

Yep, that's how I feel too. The final straw was the way that Mount was fast tracked ahead of Maddison on the back of a decent season in the Championship and 2 or 3 games in the PL. Okay, he's done pretty well for England since but with the same opportunities and patience I think Maddison could have done even better. Supporting a bunch of big 6 players has no attraction for me at all. I enjoyed the last World Cup but that was probably because we had 2 players in the squad. This time we're unlikely to have any - despite being in the top 4 for virtually the whole of the past 2 seasons, which says it's all really. Maybe when the Euros come along I might get more up for it but at the moment I couldn't be less interested.

But does anyone really support England ? I genuinely don’t anymore. I always thought of England supporters as a cockney thing. I think 2006 World Cup was the ending for me. I genuinely only watch England if a Leicester players is playing. Yesterday I watched Belgium because of the 3 Leicester players.

I think when you're younger you're perhaps less aware of how the media operate and you kind of get pulled in by all of the hype.

 

Life gives you the experience of knowing actually we're not actually that special as a national side. 

 

Also, nothing will come close to Leicester winning the title, definitely no world cup win.

Obviously I’d rather we win the FA cup this season. 
However the further England go in a major tournament the more I’m torn.

But I'll support my club till the very end and surely success with Leicester and English stars in our team can only be good for the national team.

As a kid, I thought I'd only experience the winning of trophies from England, not Leicester. 

 

Couldn't be more opposite now.

 

I'm pleased that Maddison, Barnes and Justin aren't available for that shower of shit.

 

We are far more important than that.

 

My views might change slightly if England had a competent manager.

Definitely Leicester these days.

 

Between the late 70’s and 2015 I went to most England home matches and several away games. However, I became disillusioned around 2015 because I got fed up going to friendly and “easy” qualification games when you then learned half the side had pulled out because of supposed injuries. 
 

Playing for your country doesn’t seem that important to a lot of players (and obviously clubs) so I thought sod it. Haven’t been to a home game for six years and didn’t renew my England Away Membership.

Leicester all day long. Not even in the same bracket. 

 

Not even interested in England games anymore, dislike the majority of players and the manager. Sub-conciously find myself cheering on the opposition if I ever catch any of the games which is quite sad I suppose.

Used to be country above all, especially during that hacienda era of swigging from 2002 - 2010 when the prospect of winning a major trophy on the piss with all your mates just seemed like heaven. It also helped that Leicester were absolute horse manure during that period. Now I detest the same old muck we see with our national side and as a die hard England fan I actually can't stomach us. Leicester all day long.

Used to love watching and cheering on England but like many others I'm a bit fed up of the same old same old. The same players getting picked regardless of form. Lingard just about sums it up. Yes he has done really well at West Ham but that's only a handful of games and bang he is back in the England camp. Part of me is glad for Leicester that our players can rest but you have to feel for them too when they blatantly deserve a call up and it doesn't happen.

It's funny seeing the response to this thread. I think a lot of people's answers may have been different over a decade ago when we weren't very good, especially as Leicester are generally well represented among England's travelling support. For me I've always been more interested in Leicester than England.
