The Super League

We need the same, something needs sorting out. This bullshit has gone on long enough.

And it’s not like the German league is immune to success either... they can still be ethical and successful, which makes this bunch look even more ridiculous.

As much as I hate the sound of that, wouldn't that be better than the eradication of the English league system when all the money is sucked out of it due to the big names leaving for good?

I suppose the Premier league would be a watered down version of what it is, with super league clubs playing "reserve" sides whilst saving their best players for midweek.

Not saying I prefer this option but would it be worth letting the greedy fuchs have their way in order for the rest of us to survive?

I mean.... these clubs will be getting 3.5b a year between them for competing apparently so it essentially means the top 6 is nailed on from hear on out in the PL if they remain in the league....

Whether you believe it or not, there is no doubting that Liverpool, both in a sporting context, and politically, is a socialist city. I'm not talking about Guevara, Marx, Venezuela and Kenny Dalglish having the hammer and sickle tattooed on his chest. I'm talking about a football club that was built for the working classes, by the working classes, that have, in the past at least, been managed and ran by people who care about the city and not just the football club/their wages.

Shankly's reign was long before my time, but from what I have read, watched, heard it would appear that Klopp and Shankly are seemingly cut from the same cloth. They are/were both passionate about the game, the culture, the politics, the city, the individual as opposed to simply being a decent football side and then moving on to pastures new.

It's hard to remain true to your working class routes when you're a successful club in a sport that becomes more and more of a morally bankrupt business with every passing year, but the fact remains that Liverpool do a decent job of doing just that and they, along with United, are the ones that have disappointed me the most. Arsenal would have been a shock a decade or so ago, but not now, and Spurs, Chelsea and Man City offers no surprise whatsoever.

No, I was joshing, I am aware of their strong traditions in this respect, although as footballing people (fans) they tend to be wildly hypocritical as required.

I am strongly hoping that Klopp comes out (As Jose seems to have done) and dismisses this Super League concept, something that must sit badly with him due to Germany's view on fans ownership.

There'd have to be sanctions to the domestic game.

If they play in the super league, they won't ever play again in the epl.

It’s also an absolute shitshow for the enivironment:

1) In the event that local communities feel ostracised from the big 6 clubs their attendance will doubtless be replaced by those from further away/abroad.

2) Assuming 8 games a week and 5,000 away fans that’s 40,000 fan journeys across Europe just for away supporters, most of which will be by plane.

3) Supposedly much of the money is to go towards infrastructure - stadiums, training grounds etc, all of which have huge amounts of embodied carbon.

Have you thought that the majority of football supporters in this country combined far outweigh those that support the big 6. My thoughts would be chuck them out make the premier league back up to full capacity with promotions and more importantly keep the integrity of the competition and renew rivalries with other fans. Of course players salaries would take a hit but I think it would be great to see real clubs and fans not plastic ones fighting every season and trying to realise  the same dreams we had. Football was huge in this country before the massive corporates and will be again.

crack on I say the game at grass roots all the way up the pyramid is greater than these clowns 🤡

I completely disagree that this would be a negative for football in this country. What a great chance to reset and stop overpaying on wages and transfer fees. Non league clubs might not feel the need to charge £25+ a game to afford to pay their players 50-100k a year. If this is the start of the football bubble bursting, then so be it. The game will still be here, the fans will still be here. Kick them out and tell them they need to start in the 7th/8th tier if they want to come back.

Hopefully but do you really think the FA have the stones to do that?

There is no question or doubt. All teams signed up will be gone from the league. All the league not just the epl. If they don't back down then we will be favourites for years in the epl.

Uefa will enforce all countries who are part of the association will kick out anyone involved and goes on to be involved in the proposed super league .

They have no option but to kick them out.
