We can all have our different opinions about what should happen next re. the Premier League 6 or future CL format, but I wonder what UEFA do next - presumably very soon - about Real Madrid?

 

As I understand it, together with Barcelona & Juventus, they've not quit the Super League project yet.

Yes, I know the other 9 (and other clubs) might bring it back, but the other 9 have pulled out for now, at least.

 

Real Madrid are due to play a UEFA Champions' League semi-final on Tuesday - you know, that tournament that the SL was set up to usurp.

This still seems to be Pérez's position: "We're going to continue working," said Perez. "The project is on standby. [...] all 12 clubs "have not left yet. You cannot get out of the contract like this - they are binding contracts"

It was previously announced that UEFA was having a meeting tomorrow - and that putative SL clubs might be expelled from this year's Champions' League.

If Pérez doesn't back down on the SL or resign from Real Madrid by tomorrow, will UEFA allow Tuesday's match to proceed and Real Madrid to remain in the CL?

Can they risk a situation where, in a few weeks, Real Madrid, perhaps including Pérez, could be cavorting around the pitch with the UEFA Champions' League trophy.....while still committed to form a SL designed to replace it? 

 

Time is ticking more quickly for UEFA to decide how to respond to this than it is for the PL to decide how to deal with the Sordid Six's cancelled/postponed betrayal....

Well I'm not ranking them but in my life time there's been plenty painful **** ups by all of them..

 

As for who is top and who is bottom I suspect that'll depend quite a lot on people's political persuasions.

So, according to him, there were only a handful there and they were ‘taken’ there, presumably as part of a plot by sinister forces opposed to his glorious vision. The guy is batshit crazy (I’m talking Mel Gibson levels of crazy). Why on earth did the other ESL clubs allow him to lead them? He’s a walking PR disaster for them...

But a wildcard , say, rewarding ajax for their superb semi final run in 2019 or ostersands for their amazing EL campaign would be totally in the spirit of the game .....but automatically  awarding the slots to any of those 12 who've had a duff season is unacceptable.

The guy is used to being able to pay off his club's fans to do as he wants. Real Madrid used to have a strong ultras group that resisted the commercialisation of the club. He banned them and gave their section behind the goal to a bunch of scabs who had to follow the rules to get cheap tickets etc. That's why they all wear white behind the goal, he basically paid them off to do so. He's baffled as to why he can't just throw money at a problem to make it go away.
