No, it's not just you. KDH shows a lot of promise, but there's no evidence - as yet - that he's a number 10. He definitely looks more like a box-to-box midfielder or a deeper-lying playmaker. Those who tout KDH as a Maddison replacement are just projecting onto him a role they'd like him to do - it doesn't necessarily mean he can actually do it.

In 31 league games last year Maddison scored eight and got seven asssists, so he directly contributed to a goal every other game. And of course that does not encapsulate all the pre-assists and build-up play that he brings. Playmakers like that are very difficult to find and cost a fortune to replace - yet some of our fans are completely blasé about him leaving :dunno:

Exactly. If it did come to it and we did lose Maddison (I don't want him to go) I don't even think I'd opt to try and replace him.

Like you said, it's not an easy task and with us in agreement that KDH is a DLP/box to box as is Bouba, Tielemans and Ndidi obviously operate better from deep as does Praet in my opinion, I would go with more of a flat 3 in CM and control the game from deep.

Obviously, that would hinge on replacing Maddisons goal involvement further up the field and that would need to come in the shape of a right winger/inside forward/ inverted winger whatever you want to call them. So I would take that £60m or whatever and buy maybe a Berardi AND a Dan James (possible loan) because there is no getting away from the fact that our current options on that side just don't contribute nearly enough goals and assists.

A strange obsession by our fan base when a player excels in a position to put him further forward.

Ricardo, Tielemans and Barnes are good enough to be in a PL winning team but a lot on here would have them RW for Ricardo, No 10 for Tielemans and No 9 for Barnes.

Kasper would make a decent 4th choice centre back with our injury problems though 😂

Looking at that show reel you can only imagine how he and Vardy/Barnes could work together.

For a wonderful moment I thought his whole name could be mistaken for his first name but then I looked him up and he's got one of those 5 word Brazilian names so Jean Pyerre kind of is his first name.  Shame.  Still looks a talent mind.

For me Madders is exactly what we need from a 10, and putting a RW in who is actually a threat would give him more time, space to operate and options to pick out. Whilst I’m not as anti-Perez as most, I don’t think he adds anything to help the number 10 be creative. He’s clearly instructed to cut in to allow Ricardo the space to overlap, but that just squeezes Perez, Youri and Madders into the space where really their should be 2.

I have to confess to being a bit of a Maddison  sceptic. I seem to have seen a lot of matches in which he repeatedly falls over in a very unconvincing manner, loses possession and takes himself out of the game while feigning injury. Someone like N Didi wins it back gives it back to JM and the same thing happens again. I watch Match of the Day and hear the pundits refer to his dead ball prowess and then close my eyes to try and remember the last corner assist of his ( or free kick). On Saturday our attacking momentum stopped the second the ball arrived at either his feet or those of Perez. I like his refreshing openness, I like his principles, I like the fact he’s local, I can see he has genuine and exceptional ball skills. But too often he makes little on-the-field impact which is why Grealish is streets ahead of him. I genuinely want him to succeed, but I think if the Gooners could be persuaded to gives a decent slice of money and Smith Rowe , I’d take it.

That's the thing though...

Every criticism you've just listed are 100% accurate... about 50% of the time.

Then there is that other side to James Maddison where he seems to score or assist every game. His touch and turn to take his marker out the game then his final pass/strike are up there with anyone in the league. That wee spell just before Xmas I'm sure it was, he looked twice the player Graelish was.

Consistency is always the last piece of the puzzle and it's especially hard when you have your Grannies hip.

Oh, absolutely, KDH could well be superb, and I hope he is! But until we know he is, shipping Maddison out and putting KDH in is a bit of a gamble, that’s all I’m saying.

Various foxes managers have dared to gamble over the last 12yrs....If its diamonds on the table, these gambles has see us come up With more gems than not..

I Dont Think One manager hasnt got at least 2 sparklers over his tenure...(except Shakespeare by default)

I want,I believe we Need Maddison,to stay but a fully-fit Maddison .

He does give us something special, Maybe KDH as that same..Je ne sai pas

For me KDH is My walk in if either  Maddison,Tielemans,Perez are injured totally out of form

Definitiv a write in for the first league-cup games with Soumare & Daka..

These 3 with Nacho & Praet should also get Early League games, sometimes from the starting block, well before November...

Personally I would like Brendan to Build up a Close 14-16 man team, that can easily rotate. With a few more plans B & C...

We have now, Maybe for the first time in years, a quality in depth squad....USE  IT..!!

If we have an injury free period,I would be massively  disapointed if over a 5-6 game period  we chose the same team. Now

All managers have their own preferences, if Rodgers Think totally different to anything I would like to see, I would be the last to have a dig,

or get on his back...and that is what Disapoints me with some fans, getting ratty ,thinking they know better, when a game or selection doesn't bring the results..

A fit Maddison is absolutely essential to how we play.

He takes the ball in tight situations, his chance creation is high and he gets free kicks that takes pressure off of the team.

For me he's one of our most important players

No way would I sell

Think the criticism Maddison getss on here is mad. As far as I can tell his only issue is that he's been unlucky with injuries. When he was fit last season he was in superb form. I've never seen a hint of an attitude problem.

He's young, successful, has a worldie misses and doesn't wear bootcut jeans and flat fronted brown shoes.... so 'ya da' doesn't like him.

While I could see Maddison’s agent attempting to make a move happen I just don’t see it, when players have left in the past it became obvious and it starts to feel inevitable because of the way the player and clubs involved are acting, Maddison and Arsenal have done the opposite, like why give the number 10 to Smith-Rowe?

And if anything Maddison’s been more active than before with the Leicester related social media posts and his work with our media team, as much as it just seemed funny at the time would a player that’s about to move to a club post a picture of said club going a goal behind, just doesn’t quite add up.

I often thought the same with Ryan McGivern and sticking him in the Grand Union canal

The AFCBell is spouting that Maddison is Arsenal's #1 target again and their really going to push for him etc etc..

If Arsenal had the lolly it would have happened by now, was told the second time in a week that the club would let him go for the right price. He’s irked a lot of folk

Even the Arsenal twitter morons are starting to realise AFC Bell is a fraud who got lucky guessing Arsenal would buy out Partey's release clause last year. Leicester are so worried about losing Maddison there's been zero credible links to any no 10 replacements recently.

Someone get me off Twitter please, the Arsenal fans are melting what few braincells I have left after my booze session last night. lol

Their club is the punchline of English football right now.

I think people are absolutly nuts to want to sell maddison.

He is still not fully fit after his injury....

It's been 1 game into the season and people want to sell our game winning AM.

Not being funny but I'd have maddison in my team over grealish anyday and the stats would back that up as well.

A fit maddison is a amazing player I wouldnt sell for less than 100m.

Sigh. This. Is. The. Point. He isn’t reliably fit. Be all shocked as much as you like, but if his fitness is already poor after a closed season, he is f**ked.

Very concerning this hip/lower back issue is still affecting him. Sadly every time he gets fit it only takes one barge into him from a defender to mess him up again. The player he his and the influence his position he has makes him dangerous to the opposition and a marked man similar to Grealish so he's gonna get clobbered a lot! If he's unable sustain that kind of physicality than the physios should share that with Rogers. In the event he cannot play consistently for us at his young age we have to plan for his replacement. I do love to watch him when he's fit and on top of his game. He's just not been right for a long time now.
