Unreal, have they improved at all?

Centerbacks alone over the last few years

White: 52M

Gabriel: 23M

Mari: 4M

Saliba: 27M

David Luiz: 8M

Pastathopolous: 14M

I think Odegaard and White do improve in positions they need it. The transfer fee for White is crazy but it does improve them. I expected more of Gabriel. Maybe he and White will form a good partnership?

Ramsdale signing I just cannot comprehend. They have Leno. They had Martinez. They've now disposed of a lot of money for a keeper that isn't that good? Maybe they've gone for the homegrown status but it still doesn't make that much sense. Their transfers and recruitment over the past 3-5 years has been underwhelming, while overspending. And to get them where?

They used to be regular in the CL. And a team to take seriously. Then they became regular EL members and their stock dropped.

Now they're not even in Europe. All that spending to what end? Without Europe, and with so much spending, I wonder what their expectations are for this season now.

Not at all.  He is a talented lad, no question but last weekend against Wolves he was poor.  I for one will be glad when the transfer window closes.  He then, perhaps concentrate on his game, until January of course.

Not easy to find space in against a team sitting deep in virtually a 5-4-1, who were happy to kick the crap out of him very time he got the ball.

How do you know he's not concentrating on his game or trying unless you are him.

Whilst I know it is difficult to replace a talismanic figure, for me they never got close to replacing Patrick Vieira. 16 years on, they are still crying out for someone in the midfield to take the game by the scruff of the neck.

With regards to their backline, I can't fathom why Saliba is continually loaned out. Play the kid. He is a talent, maybe not as good as our Lil Wes, but a talent nonetheless. He is definitely no worse than some of the chumps they've fielded at centre half!

On the plus side, how good does it feel to be lording it up over Arsenal and Spurs?!

How have Arsenal managed to spend so much money on absolute doss lol

I rate Odegaard, and £30m is a decent price. Yes, he needs to improve his statistical output in terms of assists and goals, but he was pretty influential in most Arsenal games I saw at the back end of the season when they began to improve. Definitely a better deal for them than Maddison at £70m imo.

Undoubtedly, however i'd say they're still a right back and a genuinely brilliant midfielder away from worrying us.

I'd add a decent manager to that list......

I’m not sure they have. Their defence was already ok last season and Odegard was already there. Doubt the others will even start.

Odegard was already there so wouldn’t class it as improving them. White, the jury is out. They already had Saliba who was rather higher than Fofana!

I wish Maddison would go back to the player he was, before injury

If and when his injury is all better, I’m sure he will.

Got the impression last weekend he wasnt actually trying.  Too many misplaced passes and genuinely looked lethargic

Misplaced passes are not a sign of not actually trying. He didn’t look lethargic either. Maybe a bit rusty, but he was hardly alone in that.

He needs to knuckle down take off the Im better than I actually am attitude and give it 110%

I’m pretty sure he doesn’t have such an attitude.

Are you sure it isn’t that you just don’t like him?

We should sell him if any bid about 18 million comes in.

With the changes on soft fouls he is close(r) to useless for us.

Light weight, very often injured, disappears in many games, not the player of past few years, seems to have a few issues off pitch with behaviour, apart from free kicks he’s not contributing enough to the team. SELL

If a bid comes in get rid. We don’t need him and he offers little anyway. Means we can re-assess and then potentially go for someone else in January.

I’ve lost my patience with him now, he has done **** all and is nothing but an Instagram show pony.

Tbf he is very good at spending time on the floor after getting breathed on by an opposition player...
