Yes, it wasn't me who essentially described it as a panic buy (you need to look at what I was replying to for context)

I was just trying to demonstrate that if it was a considered signing then it was a very poor choice. If it was a panic buy then it's a poor choice.

Whichever way you look at the Vestergaard signing - it was a very poor one - it happens!

....apologies if I erroneously picked up the incorrect theme of your previous post!!!

Part of my argument is, if we acquired Messi, all would say it was a coup and we would be very happy with the business that we had done. If we then chose to play him in goal, that would then illicit another reaction, which would be justified.

We should not be bringing in players and use them in a way not suitable to their skillset. Vestergaard may be playing in the backline but playing him in a highline serves no real purpose than to put pressure on our defence.

Do not be surprised if he starts to pull off better and better performances as we drop a bit deeper, and he uses his voice and gives his opinion to the coaching team as to how he wishes to play and how we can adjust to his needs.

we switched to a 3 at some point in the second half with Brunt playing LCB and McAteer LWB

Yeah eventually, but the vast majority of the game was a back 4. The original post mentions VDC, who played first half, when we didn't play a 3 at all.

not being able to turn pretty much makes you a bad defender lol it's one of the main things you need as a CB or as a human in general.

Wes and Rob had a big tuning circle but very few got in behind them and if they did Dan and Chris covered. You just can't have a CB like Vesty operating near the half way line. When he plays we sit back 15 yards.

We have already heard as to why Benkovic isn't being used - personal reasons.

When did we hear this mate?

Going on the History of this forum....

Vestergaard is going to end up being a Good buy, and will consolidate his position,by turning out  good, and creditable

performances in the EOS run..

He needs to be released on a free and the people who bought him in should pay back the money from their wages. Don't give him anymore time in the first team at the very minimum.

Can't head, no pace, no positional sense, no passion.

A complete and utter liability.

Please send him away.  Release.  Loan him to a Thai club, doesn't matter.  He's washed.  He's not a noble club servant, he's not a wily veteran, he's just abjectly awful at everything about football.

Totally unsuited for how we want to play.

Don't hate the bloke, he's not who or what we need but would probably suit a more defensive side who sit deeper. Move him on in the summer.

For a giant he’s spectacularly bad in the air, should be winning that against Kane
