If we the fans consider & players have continual ambition to ride ,that potential ,we have slotted long-term into that Top 6 hierarchy, then like Arsenal & Spurs,

We have to support & Play like it, when it gets tough & those hard problems come a knocking...

But also give admit cocessions...

# Rodgers hasn t had in 12months a consistent group of fit players, over Any 5-6 game period..

# A Complete Bline has been lost in Not One but 2-3 occasions, over not a month, but long seasonal-periods & Crossing over 3.

# We have improved our cover, especially Front 6...Who will need, time to bed in,where so far is not looking bad..

#  Just my individual opinion..2-3 of our Major players, as some others from other teams, are suffering  from Euro-syndrome.

# We have never Been in Top 4 only title year, so I cant agree with "failed" at Any level. We competed & put up a damn Good challenge.

# Like it or not, we are still running short of  in depth high Quality over these last 10 or even 3 seasons, to Shout out any right of any hold on top 6..

    i) Spurs & Arsenal might have Slips out of that Top 6, but could well still hit back to realise their crude entitlement..

ii) We have only just started  to Knock on the door, Earnt top 6, But no fail on top 4 (because Top 4 have top rescouces, up to last game & can carry fallbacks)

# One sees, the Real differences between Top 12-6, and consistent Top 6, who over seasons, can carry 2-3 off form, & L.Term injuries..

#  This tick-tack-toe of Player preferences, is totally irrelevant. Rodgers/Any manager, sees the players he wants & subs on thoughts fans dont see or know.

On Current question & some fans panic time....

# Too early

# Front 6 ,still being ajudged with new investments, hoping to discover his best calls, considering 4 competitions, using Early Days to see which permatations

  i) some fans seem to think, throw everybody in For every game, forget season period & season calls..

ii) Rodgers Needs to see, & recognise, who are ready to ride their comebacks, long/Short Term plans/Early season form..We have only had 6 PL games

# Improvement of rival contenders...??

# On present rescources, squad strength & problems...I still see top 7..All aspirations still on board .

# Through my many years of experience, on sport, I Dont expect, or have 'should' in my vocabulary ,for daily/monthly/Season achievements.

# I cant see why we cant still realise Top 4-6. But its the Way & how the Journey runs, is how I myself will judge success & achievement...

I think we'll finish 10th and make a cup final (looking at how the other teams have strengthened this season, I'd be happy with this tbh)

It will leave us a problem with losing players who want to play European football, but hey, that's life!

I think we have 'peaked', so enjoy these heady heights while they last. We are on the other side of the curve now, lets try to keep the drop off as slow as possible!

Difficult season ahead I think...12th finish.

Europa we might make the knockout stages but that's about it.

FA Cup QFs

League Cup?... who cares!

Will Rodgers survive the season that is the big question?

I mean I have to accept anything that happens.

I'll consider it a failure if we go backwards though considering we've strengthened the squad and Rodgers is now into his 3rd full season with us.

If its clear that were prioritising europe and are playing weaker teams in the league then obviously I will reassess. Nothing is set in stone in football.

That would be my general target at the start of a season though

Oh...it's just that's not what you said. You said it'd be a failure if this season was only 2-3 results worse than the previous one.

No different to what my expectations were at the beginning of the season. No less than the top four position we threw away the last two seasons. Anything less is a failure.

My expectations are for us to be regularly competing for those top 6 places. So anywhere higher than 8th will be a good season for me. Top 6 is never a given and there are numerous sides who probably also feel they are good enough for that (Us, WHam, Spurs, Arsenal, Everton) is already 5 sides for 2 spots as well as the current big 4. So top 6 would be a great season for me, Top 4 would and should always be considered an outstanding season IMO. However, as others I would quite like us to really target the EL this year, especially as Europe is by no means guaranteed for next season.

Overall don’t think we’ve been as bad so far this season as has been made out on the forum, such is the nature of fan forums I think, although it isn’t quite clicking and defensively we look fragile. Think it will be an up and down season but still targeting a top 8 finish and hopefully a semi final in one of the cups.

Early days but 8th-12th area. No shame in that but I'm not convinced Rodgers after 3 full seasons will have the stomach for another. May also see the end of Tielemens and Maddison same time. Not bring negative just a hunch. Club demonstrates it can adapt to change tho so I'm sure contingency in place for any event.

I'm expecting mid table up to Christmas and early in the new Year and then I really good push toward the Top six in March / April and May when we're out of the cups and JJ, Fofana are back and Brendan's worked out his best team / squad and set up

Be prepared for failure then 😂

I don’t think anybody would actually be happy with 8th or 9th. We finished 9th under Puel and was largely so frustrating because we all knew there was a lot of untapped potential in that team.

We have an even better side now so finishing 9th would be a serious underachievement, even factoring in our injuries. This current XI less Evans, Fofana & Justin is still better than Spurs’, Arsenal’s, Villa’s, West Ham’s and Everton’s.

Finishing mid table is borderline unacceptable with the talent in our squad.

If I included every variable in every post, I'd get very little else done in my life :D

I hope I helped address any concerns/questions with my last reply anyway haha

But yeah, from the start of the season. I'd consider anything below 60 points a failure. If certain things change, then i'm open to changing my expectations. If we sign Haaland in Jan I'd expect to push for 40 odd points in the second half of the season :D

Minimum expectations have to be the same. To challenge the to 6 and go for the cups. The way I see it we have a stronger squad now and should be up there.

We have so many players who are not 100% fit yet or out of form. Fingers Crossed we get our form and fitness back. We have a good team it will click soon.

This "we need to get to the next level" stuff for me is being a top 10 team for the next 5-10 years, constantly disrupting the top six, getting into Europe as often as possible and properly challenging for trophies.

Our financial metrics (wage bill and turnover) put us in the area of 7th-9th.

Such an odd way to look at it…

It just doesn’t work like that. If it did then the same team would win the league each season and you could rank the 92 in the Football League into divisions based on ‘financial metrics’.

You also don’t account for the fact that Rodgers is not the 7th to 9th best paid manager in the league. If it’s all about ‘financial metrics’ then how does that come into play? Are we overpaying our manager versus what we reasonably expect him to deliver?
