With our defensive issues and players out of form like Maddison and Barnes or even other players such as Ndidi and Youri not reaching their peaks what are our expectations as they currently stand?

Games like Legia on Thursday I'd expect us to win or at least dominate but its games in the Prem I can't call at the minute.

Winning at Palace is probably the least likely scenario with a draw or defeat being more probable.

Interested to know what others think at the minute? This is not about being negative or positive more about realistic based on what you've seen so far.

Our financial metrics (wage bill and turnover) put us in the area of 7th-9th.

Would rather finish 8th or 9th than 7th to avoid Conference League

I think we can recover from the current dodgy patch and I'd expect us to be competing for a Europa League/Conference League place through the league. Somewhere around 6-9th. We're a top 10 Premier League club now at the very least, so as long as we finish top half and have another decent cup run.

9th is minimum I expect.

I'd be happy with 6th or 7th

Original post wasn't about where we'd finish more about how we see the next few weeks panning out?

I'm almost prepared for a thrashing but could equally see us dealing one out....its all about the confidence and if things click from defence to midfield to attack

Improve on the previous season's points tally, league position doesn't really bother me, it's a false reading that can change from season to season. I want us to dominate the xG score against bottom half teams and I want us to finish on 67+ points. Any less than 60 points would be a serious step back. 60-65 would be acceptable if there were good performances and we've been clearly unfortunate.

Win in Warsaw, they've not started well this season and we should be too strong. Palace is away will be difficult, like some have already said. The new signings haven't gel'd with the rest of the team and there's some players out of form.

It's a bit futile to talk about "should be finishing 7th or 9th" etc, with our current form and shaky defence. If we can improve and put together a couple of consecutive wins, then I'll start hoping for a good league position. Until that happens we're in for some difficult times. As already mentioned I can't see us doing great at Palace, but you never know.

Largely depends on Evans at the back, if he plays the majority of PL games, I believe we will finish top 6 again.

We have plenty of players who are goal scoring threat, we just need more organisation at the back. If he misses a good chunk of the season, we are back in the pack. The good thing for us is outside of the top 4, there isn’t a stand out team.

If I was a betting man, I’d have us finishing 5th - 8th. Quarter finals of the Europa League, win the League cup and call it another great season.

For me a must for Brendan is to win a knock out tie or two in Europe.

Let's face it, we aren't going to be realistically challenging for Europe via the league this season because a) at least four of the rich six have resumed normal service b) we've regressed.

We have a fantastic opportunity to win a major European trophy this season and we should be going absolutely all out to win it, even if that means sacrificing league positions IMO.

Anywhere from 8th-11th, 2nd in the group and out in the 1st knockout round of Europa, and who knows about the cups as they're mostly luck.  That won't make me happy, but it's what I expect.

...Rodgers to go back to basics and be more pragmatic in his approach!!!

Looking to get in top 6, we haven't yet started the season, no point aiming for less. Great to be competing in Europe, would love to go the distance but Rodgers record is last 32 and that worries me.

Daka and Soumare to come good and we address the problems with Maddison and Tielemans even if it means they are moving on, we need to know where we are going and look to plan ahead.

Would love to win EL but being realistic, finishing in the QF's of that competition would be a decent achievement.

Win the League Cup.

PL I would like us to be challenging for 7th by the end of the season.

FA Cup, not sure.

I think we will end up 8th or 9th in PL, the cups are what I want us to excel in, best chance of European qualification (especially CL if we want it).

Don't care about the league too much this season.

I want us to have a proper go at Europe.

We aren't getting top 4, more than likely top 6 will be difficult.

If we get 60 points this season I'll be ecstatic.  I think personally we will finish this season somewhere between 50 and 60 and miss out on Europe.  But that's fine

I see a slow, bumpy but nevertheless gradual improvement until.xmas....and at some point we'll find a groove and bang out 4 or 5 wins on the bounce.

The target this season remains the same; European football qualification. That includes the conference league. Any old how will do

We've got the 5th best squad so by a reasonable amount so I'd expect that. 7th would still be ok in my eyes. Suppose it depends on the cups too; a good run there lessens the impact of a disappointing league campaign.
