So commentary wise, is it all done by yourselves, or would TalkSport or whichever broadcaster it may be, have researchers for you?

Or would that vary from company to company?

I'm sure you'd all be pretty clued up anyway.

Commentators do the main legwork themselves.

Sky Sports and probably MOTD have stats people who supply stuff but essentially you do it yourself.

For me I can’t believe the naivety of Rodgers subs. He was lucky he got away with not ruining a fantastic night for Daka. If we’d have been 3 or 4 nil to the good, I would have understood taking Evans and Thomas off. To then bring Vestergaard on who is utterly useless was a massive mistake. Took the shine off what should have been a fantastic 4-2    Still, we’ve the 3 points that’s the main thing.

Thomas didn't have a great time with Moses, and we needed to get Evans off for reasons we are all too aware of. He could have broken down in those last 15 minutes, and then we would be slagging off BR for not subbing him.

Great win but a bit ropey at the back, though nowhere near at full strength of course, particularly by the end of the match. Daka and Soumare outstanding, nice to see Maddison and Tielemans back in form. Still in with a shout for the EL.

I'd be an awful commentator, but if I could go back in time, I think sports journalism would be great to work in, for me.

I love most sports, obviously football is my first love, but I travelling the country and talking about sport to just about everyone must be great. I know, it can't be all glitz and glamour, probably hardly any glitz and glamour lol, every job has aspects of the sh*te that people don't see, and we all have days that are just so rubbish. Sometimes though, I just listen to talk sport and think to myself "how good is it to get paid, talk about sport, mainly football, and have a laugh at the same time with your mates!"

I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking this too, but I certainly see and read the game better than some pundits, don't care if they're ex pros or not lol

That was a massive and very important win.

The home game is now Huuuuuuge for us.

I thought we played well enough last night and didn't really deserve to be 2-0 down, the only time I thought we wouldn't win the game was the minute between their 2nd and our 1st.

Our defending was poor, but in comparison to theirs looked world class. I couldn't believe how they set up 2nd half, comically high against pace and were found out so often, not sure why they didn't adapt.

Daka needed that game, plenty of chances to boost his confidence and you could see each finish was more composed than the last.

I see Luke Thomas is getting his usual hate in various threads from the usual few.

let’s be clear Thomas wasn’t meant to start this game Rodgers said this in the pre match build up. Thomas would have know he wasn’t starting and an hour before kick off gets drafted in to what was a must win game.

no ****er was passing to him in the first 20 minutes for whatever reason maybe they don’t trust him or he’s wasn’t in the right position yet people are saying he offered nothing what can he do if they don’t pass to him.

Thomas get blamed for the second goal by some because he passed it back to firm to Soy….behave these are prem footballers and should be able to deal with it. The pass to Thomas wasn’t required as he had a man on him and should have been cleared.

I see people say Moses caused him trouble but that’s not how I saw the game and was telling when he came off the Moses caught Bertrand sleeping and assisted for the 3rd goal.

he did a fantastic ball to nacho which helped us get the second but do ant offer us anything some people say.

Some fans are very selective in what they see and choose to only highlight the errors.

Finally and I think this is a critical point. Thomas hasn’t made the bench since the last Europa game and has hardly played this season yet as fans we are expecting him to be Robertson it’s just not going to happen because he isn’t given a consistent run of games.

Give the lad a break some of the stuff that’s written is shameful. Rodgers sees him train everyday so know better than us his strength and development areas…..would a loan help him….possibly if that allows him to play and develop but will the club allow it….unlikely.

In the ideal world we have Justin, Castange, Riccardo and Bertrand all fit and Thomas goes on loan and get 30 odd games under his belt.

Easy to forget he's 20 with only 20 games under his belt, one of which was the FA Cup final.

Nice to 4 squad members all local boys in him, KDH, Hamza and Harvey.

Luke Thomas has a top future ahead, getting on the back of a 20 year old isn’t going to help him.

What I’ve noticed is that when he’s played, it’s always been in a back 5 so he’s playing wingback and covering the whole left side. Some of his best performances have been with a winger in front of him, which he’s not had.

If Justin is fit and ready for the new year, a loan out in January to get some regular football will be best for him.

Be disappointed if we didn’t beat Legia and Spartak at home, especially given our decent home recent in Europe.

10 points should see us through even if we got beat at Napoli

We really need to finish top of the group though

Agreed but when you drop 2 points at home when you’re 2 nil up and then get beat in Poland you can’t really be picky

Great win as already stated by most. The fact that the Vodka Boys put 3 past us is concerning. At the moment it seems like we just need to outscore the opposition, because they will score against us. Not a model with all that much potential in my opinion. We need to get back to being tight in defence.

Otherwise, right result.

I need to watch the game again as I'm not that happy with today's performance but we simply had to win so I'm thankful for that.

Didn't like how we defended, didn't like how poor Ricardo and Thomas were 1st half but did improve in the 2nd and I didn't like the subs at all bar Albrighton, the other 3 were crap. KDH on for Tielemans would have been more welcome and I'd have put Lookman or Barnes on for Evans rather than bring that shit house on who immediately gifted them a 3rd goal.

Sensational performances in the 2nd half though from Iheanacho, Youri, Maddison, Soumare and Daka. Absolutely electric stuff.

I agree with this, albrighton sun made sense with Ricardo on yellow and frustrated from not getting a foul himself was one tackle away from red. Thought Thomas had a much better second half but kind of expect him to be better when the team as a whole is better given his lack of experience etc.

The more logical subs would have been Bertrand for Thomas and Barnes or Lookman for Evans and gone 4-3-3, Spartak were leaving so much space for the overlap from full back and wingers, it was frustrating to see us opt not to take advantage and instead try and sit back and hope to see it out, which instantly got a bit hairier when Vestergaard waddled on and straight thr way just step aside for them to reduce the deficit. Bertrand can't run a flank on his own either, certainly not against the experience and ability of Victor Moses.

I know I'll I'll digged out for this,  but I thought Thomas played okay. Played a key pass for one of the goals and did okay defending. He certainly got up and down the pitch and was troubled by Moses but wasn't embarrassed by him. Personally thought Cags and even Ricardo played worse.

This is all negatives when it comes to the defence,  but our attacking options are very sexy atm

2nd half he was much better, 1st half I thought he was pretty poor, like we was vs Legia which is unusual for him as he's for the most part since coming in to the team been very steady.

Totally agree that another shape might well have worked a whole lot better.

Don't think Luke particularly suits the wing back role as he's not physically there yet. He looks much better going forwards when he has a partner.

No real shame in losing a physical battle vs Moses either to be fair.

His pass for Nacho was absolutely sublime and that's the stuff he's good at. Intelligent footballer with good technique, he can build up his stamina, strength and running power over the next couple of years. The raw football intelligence and ability can't really be taught.

Lucy Ward.

She's a former Leeds striker, also played for England U21.

Worked with her a few times for talkSPORT.

Always comes with pages of prep, very thorough, and she's bloody fantastic on air.

Read a while ago that she did the China 2009 European or World Cup commentating, for one of these competition qualifiers.

Am glad female's like her are breaking through to the big time' in a sport where female representation is starting to increase - both on the commentating and officiating side.

Quite related to the topic, but think I saw you at the game on Saturday (in one of the large rooms where The Birch is sometimes seen at) but didn’t have the courage to say 'Hi, it's Wymsey off Foxestalk' lol.

I couldn’t watch that with my normal level of concentration as I have a job that I’d like to keep but it looked to me like we were ready to concede with every one of their attacks. Am I being harsh?

We won but we didn’t play well especially in the first half, apart from scoring 4 goals this was a poor performance compared with the Man Utd one. If we had got at them like we did against Man U we would have scored many more but we backed off them and allowed them to press us far to much.

...Rodgers does have the tendency to go safe to see games out when a reorganised format would resolve the situation without us having to take our foot off the gas and sitting back!!!

He put the team under pressure due to a short sighted decision.
