If Rodgers is to leave which I can’t really see happening just yet he’s actually come out and said he enjoys it here at Leicester, but if that was all a smoke screen then I’d hope we go for a quality manager like Martinez but also don’t think Potter is the one for us ?

I’m actually surprised Utd want Rodgers considering the likes of Zidane are available tbh.

Yeah Rodgers has Premier League experience but flapped it when needing to reach the final hurdle, with us and especially Liverpool.

Zidane has managed one of the biggest clubs in world football but also won the biggest competitions in Europe. He’s also a world class football icon who will always have that pulling power when attracting players so surely that’s what Utd want?

Maybe we should go for Zidane if Rodgers does go??😉

No, I'm not quite saying that. If the team started the season well then, playing fast fluid pressing football, including a 9 nil win against Southampton and other fairly free scoring games, why do you then change tack a short time later? Surely having lost 9 nil, it was for Southampton to worry about us, more of the same would have been logical, no? Instead, he tinkers and we lose. Why when you play a poor Norwich City side who can't buy a goal let alone a win, do you set up and play as if you're entertaining Man City or Liverpool. Instead of sticking with a winning recipe, he was insistent in trying the sort of possession football/philosophy we're putting up with now. The season ended poorly.

Start again the next season and again, with a bit of freedom we shoot into the top 4 yet again. However, rinse and repeat, when having a commanding lead and notwithstanding injuries, even against lesser teams, he reverts to type in setting up not to lose, hide in his shell instead of trying to win.

His insistence on this possession based conrol freak game is killing us. You wonder at times if the team aren't better off without him because I still believe that at the start of the season we had the players to finish 5th. The loss of Fofana is tough but one player light is no excuse because JJ has been out for a long time now. Round pegs, round holes and tactics to suit would give a marked improvement imo.

The obsession with possession.... how is it helping?

How old are fofana and jj?  Yet the absence of these players is used as an excuse imo.

Everyone knows I despise this dull as dishwater, possession for possession sake football, but whether it works when we have our strongest team available or not i'm not debating that in this point i'm trying to make, we don't have our strongest team at the moment, alot is made of Fofana and Justin being out amongst other injuries we have had, thats fair enough and acceptable reasons, ok?

But if we don't have a strongest players, who are good on the ball, positive and confident why are we insisting to still play in the same way with lesser players who aren't as good on the ball, as positive or confident? Why are we playing in such a way we're doing nothing but putting those players under constant pressure? Allowing teams to come onto us, Leading to mistakes and/or frustration that we're not being positive, getting the ball forward quicker?

As i've kept saying recently whilst we dominate possession we're far from dominating games and this has been the case for a long time now - Teams want us to have the ball, they don't have many easier games.

You get the best out of what you have, we're not doing that.

Zidane is apparently eyeing up the France job, Deschamps contract ends after the World Cup

5 PL managers sacked after just over a season, silly season.

It Ferge would have been at Man U nowadays he would have been sacked before he worked his magic.

Martin O'Neill wouldn't have had the chance to shine in the PL he would have been sacked in the championship after the Sheff United game if it was now.

Someone at work has a reliable source that told him Rodgers has taken his kids out of their school. No idea if it's been mentioned already or not but thought I'd stir the pot a bit anyway!

His daughter is in her late 20's Im sure.

Nailed it. You play the system or tactics that are best suited to the players you have at your disposal, with or without injuries and with due regard to the opposition in from of you also. Surely you shouldn't be mackling a team together merely to service a method or philosophy just because in an ideal world you particularly favour it?

I don’t know anything about him, just suggested Gasperini because I wanted people to think I’m cool

Well done! I just go for the 'know-it-all option with the occasional slanging match as a result.

I'd done some research on Atalanta prior to sticking my nose into this thread. On his limited resources he's the highest achieving manager in Europe. It's all on Wikipedia.

When eventually he does move on (whenever that would be) I’d be interested to see if we could tempt Diego Simeone, a new challenge with a set up not too dissimilar to Atleti.

But I’m not for one minute suggesting I want Rodgers out I don’t, but he will at some stage move on, even if it is in five years.

He's one of the high paid coaches in football rumoured to be on 30m a year at one of the best clubs in the world.

No chance he will be coming here.

If and when he leaves AM there will be a massive queue for his services
