It's a game we need to win and one I think we should go strong from the start for, aim to get a few goals and then take off those who will need a rest prior to Watford. I want Daka to play as I think he shows so much potential and game time is what he needs although I think Vardy needs a goal and some confidence too so it's tough who to go for up top. Maddison also needs to play and get 90 mins for me.

I'd go for;

                          Kasper

Ricardo     Evans      Soyuncu     Castagne

                            Ndidi

               Soumare     Maddison

Albrighton                                    Barnes

                            Vardy

Not seen enough of Lookman to suggest he would be a better option at RW and I just don't trust Perez. Could play Daka there for pace but it's not his natural position so Marc could do a job playing in Ricardo. Bertrand was horrific against Spartak so for me Castagne LB is a no brainer.

...looks a pretty good set up, Albrighton will give you a good shift and will be looking to find Vardy at all times!!!

I feel Albrighton has become a more defensive and Ricardo will be going forward with Albrighton dropping in for him. Lookman is very busy but no end product and has had a few goals ruled out due to him getting himself in positions he should not be.

Funny, I actually found myself thinking about Wasyl watching the mess against Chelsea. Really mourning the lack of that sort of hardness in the squad. The first half in particular was crying out for some blood and thunder, someone to clear out Havertz as close to legally as possible to lift the crowd and the team.

it was infectious as well. it bought a backbone to the entire team. we've got a backline full of flappers atm and we look nervous across the entire pitch because of it. i said in another post - the pearson era 'muck in together' ethos is gone and when we concede we've gone back to standing around looking for someone to blame and point fingers at. that needs addressing.

I would let Stowell pick the Team to get him warmed up.  If we lose, the put the Birch and Filbert in temporary charge against Watford. Plan ahead.

Legia Warsaw Pre-Match Press Conference - Ayoze Perez

Reason for poor form?

“Since I signed for Leicester, it’s been a couple of years where we’ve succeeded. We’ve over-achieved. We are in a different position. We know we are struggling, but from the inside, what I’m sure is we are not far from getting back to what we were a couple of years ago. The sooner we get a positive result, we’ll get the confidence again, then we can get the momentum that will take us to better results.”

Difficult conversations after Saturday?

“They’ve been very honest and open conversations, which is important in this situation. We know that we are struggling in terms of results and performances. But we are focused on what we can change to get the results we want. Football is sometimes like this. We know the situation but we are definitely working on what we can change and improve, and what each individual can give to the team to get back to where we were."

Message from Rodgers?

“The message is very clear. We are not far from getting a result. It was disappointing against Chelsea. The mentality is what is missing from a couple of seasons. It’s not the talent, it’s the mentality and resilience. Whoever is on the pitch knows the importance of this game. We are ready for it and we know it’s must-win. It’s important, in our stadium with our people."

Specifically where is it going wrong?

“Something as simple as the set-pieces, we conceded against Arsenal and Chelsea, and to concede early makes a difference. It can be a lack of concentration. At this level, you cannot make these mistakes, and when we make these mistakes, they turn into goals and then the game is a different dynamic. We’ve been working on that a lot and discussing what we can do better. We will definitely improve. We’ve got the quality to create chances. It’s all about details and mistakes from one team or the other. We are trying to cut those out."

Booing fans?

"To be honest, it's not a good feeling, but they're there to say what they feel.
"We always try our best, sometimes it doesn't go the way we want it to. Then, we want to be supported more than when we're winning. We need that boost."

Noticed any differences in manager?

“He’s trying to get us to think about the basics, which is important in this time, to not overthink things. We need to do the fundamentals as well as we can. We are pretty sure, him and us, the win is close to coming. We know the importance of tomorrow’s game. We need to replicate that on the pitch. We need to get an important result and get a step closer to get through."

Players thinking about Rodgers to United?

“We are not even thinking about that possibility. What he has showed is that he is totally focused on what we can improve. We are not thinking about anything else, and him neither.”

Legia celebrations disrespectful in Poland?

“We are not bothered about it. They have to come to our stadium, which is going to be tough for them. What we are after is the result and that’s the main thing. That’s going to give us an extra motivation for tomorrow. We are not thinking about anything else beyond that. They’ve got to feel that tomorrow’s 90 minutes are hard and long, that we are pushing to create chances. That is the mindset for the game. We are ready for it, and ready to get the win.”

I actually quite like Ayoze in the 10 position. He plays more of a proper 10 by moving the ball quicker rather than dwelling on it. On the wings he’s no good because he hasn’t got the pace to trouble defenders.

I’d like to see him given a chance in the ten, just see what he can do.

Legia Warsaw Pre-Match Press Conference - Brendan Rodgers

Perez said something missing in mentality - how do you get that back?

“There’s no magic formula. It’s hard work. In the period that we’ve been here, the consistency has been good. We have talented players, but we’re not near the top end. What we’ve been able to do is have that mentality and rinse everything out of it to get to the top of the league. If we don’t, we sit in the middle of the table where we are at the minute. It’s about that sacrifice. You have to suffer. The confidence isn’t at the level we want it to be, but the only way to make that better is work at the best level you can. I’ve no doubts it will, we just need to keep working hard.”

Message to fans over boos?

“The supporters have been brilliant in my time here. The away support has been amazing. It’s encouraging the team. We were playing one of the top teams in the world, you saw them last night against Juventus. To compete with that, we need all of our players available and to be at our top level. But it was not through lack of effort from players. I understand frustrations but I just ask for a bit of perspective. We have to be together. The King Power Stadium is a really difficult place to play when there is the synergy between the fans and players. Bring that incredible passion and support to help the team, and we need that, because we need to win to jump up the table. We need them, and for us, rather than against us.”

Take Man Utd links as compliment, or are they detrimental?

“I don’t take it as anything. It’s not real. There’s always gossip and that will be there until they appoint a full-time manager. My commitment is to here. The culture here is about the development of the players, and that’s where I see it, even moreso in this period. I respect you guys have stories to do and to create a narrative, but that doesn’t include me.”

Injuries?

Rodgers confirms that Tielemans and Ricardo will both be out for a couple of weeks.

Message to squad over intensity?

“It’s about finding that edge to our game, winning the duels. When we get the ball, we need to get the ball forward quickly and winning the one on ones. I’m really pleased with what I’ve seen, we’ve managed to do some great work over these last couple of days.”

How do you see game going?

“At any level, concentration is one of the biggest attributes to have. They’ve played 4-3-3 quite a lot under the new manager, but it might be similar to the Spartak game where they might sit in and look to score on the break away. They’ve brought a few technicians into the team which suggests they might want to open up a bit more. We need to focus on ourselves and get our confidence. They are always tight games, but we need to impose our game.”

Legia's poor form affect preparation?

"It’s a really, really important game for both teams. Sometimes what you need to turn around form, a change of competition and venue can do that. "Hopefully we can get the result to take us above Legia."

Nothing wrong in what he says here.

I'm not sure I get this over achieving sentiment BR and the players have. Top and Vichai said where we want to go when they first came. How can they now have the defeatist attitude of thinking we have over achieved. So what we are doing now is the level we should be? Are they accepting that? The whole attitude stinks to be honest. If they are just trying to downplay the situation then it's not working. I just want one of them to say, it's not good enough, we haven't been working hard enough and that's going to change. Rather than 'we always give 100%' cause quite frankly that's rubbish!

I don't see overachieving as a defeatist attitude?

If you read any of their other comments instead of just focusing on one word, you'll see quite clearly they're not accepting where we are now and we should be doing better...

Then why use the words overachieving? Why say that they've been giving 100% when clearly they have not? Like others have mentioned it's about wanting to grow, if they are not constantly wanting to better themselves and then trust that they will get out what they put in (achieving what they deserve) then it's quite sad. Look at the top teams it's always "we need to be fighting at the top" "this club needs to win trophies" - Positive mental attitude.

The "overachievement" thing has rubbed off on the players then.

Based on who's available and the fact I want Nacho and Daka playing, while binning 3 at the back I'd say..

Schmick

Rick Amartey Evans Castagne

Ndidi

Kdh Soumare

Maddison

Nacho Daka

Rick and Castagne basically playing as wingers because we need goals.

at last!

ive been meaning to mention this but forgot

we HAVE been over achieving. - it’s not even a debate

does that mean we should accept being average?  Of course not

does that mean that we will undoubtedly return closer to the average from time to time ?  Of course

our current malaise is not something that should be a surprise within a professional sporting context

it is not being accepted - but the fans booing the players/staff for not performing as well as they did past two seasons will not help everyone recover their form and mojo

from a man management perspective I don't think I'd ever choose to tell my team they've over-achieved. it's not a good choice of words. it insinuates that they've somehow performed at a level that is past their genuine capabilities which isn't true - if you've got that performance in your locker, it exists and can be reached again. i'd much rather talk about how we're underperforming currently and that we are capable of matching the top teams but we have to find the chemistry and balance that has had us there previously.

say for example a sales team under my management far surpasses their targets. I don't set the same targets again. I tell them they've upped their game and they are capable of doing it again and therefore we continue to push forward and hit new targets with the knowledge and experience they have clearly already shown they possess.

i just think it's a poor choice of phrase and i can see why it would have an effect on confidence - those amazing seasons you had were basically flukes and you got lucky to be there. it undermines the effort and skill that went into putting us in that position.

Ricky P is out I'm afraid as confirmed by BR
