Great goal by Barnes but my god he lacks the ability to make decisions. Doesn’t seem like he is ever aware of what’s around him

Just a little sideways ball there to Maddison and we’d have scored. Don’t know if you noticed Maddison straight after? He was absolutely fuming

Daka is spending too much time outwide! If he stays central he will cause so many problems for Mings and Konsa.

Schmeichel has got very very lucky their in my opinion.

Would love to see Iheanacho come on upfront alongside Daka.

He clearly has control of the ball, it’s the correct decision.

We’ve been the better team by far, decent half and one laps in concentration has done for us. Fancy us to win this one.

Villa certainly do not deserve to be in front.

Where has this team been?

Much, much better than previous games and should be ahead.

Brendan needs to fire them up at HT as this is there to be won.

Villa will turn off the goal line VAR shortly. This, of all teams, cannot never  complain about VAR going against them.

VAR is garbage and some you win and some you lose. It’s bollooks.

Perez isn't quicker than Lookman but he is better on the ball when being pressed and may actually compliment our attacks.

Would be happy with him or Kelechi on for Lookman.

Also, if anyone is slating KDH you have got to be fvcking stupid or blind, possibly both.

Not a goal according to the rules :). Just need to be clinical and I'd take Lookman off, as he's giving away needless free-kicks. I suspect they will play better in the second half though, so it will be a lot tougher.

fair enough, I thought it was 2 hands

Another one where  the old way is better for me - 2 hands or not is objective, 'under control' is not..

scrub that, seems there is a definition that makes it clearer.

Still not sure why they change these rules though

We need to get back to having Wilf screen the defence on his own, playing him in a two isn't helping anyone.

Absolutely agree. 41221 is the way to go.

We'll win this now

Kasper might well be headed for a falling out with Rodgers IMO, just got a feeling his career here will end acrimoniously.

I’m just hoping it ends soon.

He’s become a liability over the past two years or so, and is getting noticeably worse.

Always be a legend. But time’s up Kasper.

Is that Mike Bassett’s Christmas Tree formation?

It's not subjective.

The rules are written like so:

A goalkeeper is considered to be in control of the ball with the hand(s) when:
  • the ball is between the hands or between the hand and any surface (e.g. ground, own body) or by touching it with any part of the hands or arms except if the ball rebounds from the goalkeeper or the goalkeeper has made a save
  • holding the ball in the outstretched open hand
  • bouncing it on the ground or throwing it in the air

A goalkeeper cannot be challenged by an opponent when in control of the ball with the hand(s).

It's extremely clear what constitutes control. Kasper knows full well he just had to get a hand to the ball for it to be in possession. He uses the rules of the game intelligently.

The Villa player is just a tiny bit too slow. Its no different to a goal being ruled out because a striker made his run fractionally too quickly and was offside by an inch.

The rules are the rules.

I put the blame for the tie ing goal squarely on Barnes he was covering the penalty spot and moved off needlessly to try and cover the second header when men were already there, he gets there late and the header goes to the penalty spot where he just vacated.

Lookman being bullied and outdone by a past it Ashley Young playing on his wrong flank is up there with one of the worst individual performances I’ve seen in the last three years at City.

He’s gave away about 6/7 fouls including what they scored off. A real cheap free kick to give away
