Having said that, didn't we make the earth move and break records for Leo's goal against Norwich?

As for atmosphere. the awful goal music is a rare bad move by the club.  It kills the raw intensity of the goal celebration instantly.

In all fairness the 15/16 atmosphere was fairly decent throughout. A few moments where I think people were literally too nervous to make much noise but otherwise the place did have noise.

But it's easier when people are excited and fired up. We have a very reactive fanbase, they're passionate when something is happening. We're rarely able to force or it or sing for the sakes of it.

Is that still there? I don't tend to walk in that direction. Surprised the council haven't 'relocated' it?

Yeah - I took it last Sunday prior to the Newcastle match.

I'd forgotten all about Coventry.

I think I preferred it that way.

To be fair I had haha, I wind him up something rotten by saying I only really hate Spurs, they’re our rivals now lol

Can’t knock the effort of their support, they vocally put us to shame.

One thing I will say is the amount of Saudi flags in the away end was embarrassing.

...are they actually supporting their team or just being vocal!!!

A lot of the chants and noise bares no resemblance, to what is going on, on the pitch.

This topic is ridiculous, Newcastle fans deserve respect for sticking solidly  in such numbers behind such a shit team. Leeds fans too. The only reason they big their support up is they have NOTHING ELSE TO CHEER ABOUT.

The polar opposite of the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea.

Storming rival forums and posing as a Leicester fan is low!

If you’re 4-0 down to a poorer version of us in recent years - then I think to make the day bearable you’re going to sing a lot etc. But I’ve never really thought that a fan base is only strong because they’re all 20-30 who sings a lot etc…

Someone commented earlier they are a massive 1 club city - but we are also a 1 club city (in terms of football anyway) and about the same in terms of population. Football is traditionally and still is mostly a working class sport - followed by working class people. I would think a big factor - if you compare them with us and think they are ‘better’ - is that there are more working class people as a % of their overall city population.

Looking forward to our support turning world class when we inevitably turn shit again!

Tbf I'd rather be silent then turn up in numbers just to boo when we go a goal behind like they've been doing for the past 4 or 5 seasons. And I'm sure their players really appreciate 3000 travelling fans ironically celebrating an opposition score, like they did on Sunday.

I hope they go down.

Quite right. Like Darts fans chanting.

They’re a special bunch. I’ll never forget at St James’ they had a banner before the game which said “Newcastle United will never be defeated” and we proceeded to beat them 3-2.

I counted nine paragraphs in that blog, yet remarkably the author managed to say next to nothing.

"I was born in Leicester, I’ve lived in the city my whole life but my heart is with Newcastle"

It was this sentence that caused me to raise a mental image of a clenched fist with the exception of a middle finger whilst uttering the words "go feck yourself, you willy puller".

Do Newcastle have a large and fairly loyal following? Yes.

Are they a ‘special’ or uniquely different club? No.

I hate all the ‘we are different ‘ and ‘this means more’ crap that certain clubs bang on about, because it simply isn’t true. The (red) scousers are the worst for it, which is an irony actually given how much of their fan base is made up of absolute plastics.

Oh God yeah, that's the very worst of all of those slogans. "This means more". Yeah, I'm sure no other fanbase on Earth is as capable as you are of finding any sense of meaning through their club's success. Aren't you clever.
