No bitterness in that ‘tale’ whatsoever. 😂 It must be great for the likes of Leeds and Newcastle fans to sip their beer, safe in the knowledge that their fans are quite loud. When the PL gives out points for that, I’m sure it will be good news for them. Until then, we’ll just have to console ourselves with building a great squad that actually wins games of football and even some trophies. If only we could swap that to be a couple of decibels louder - I’m sure we’d all sacrifice  the PL and FA cup wins for that 😂😂

The only thing that arguably sets Newcastle fans apart from the rest of us is their insistence that mixing Stone Island jackets with replica shirts from the 90s is considered the height of fashion. True to form, I spotted one in that combo at the station on Sunday.

That said, Sunderland fans also love to dress like that so it must be a North-East thing.

While I obviously wouldn't swap the trophy wins for anything, it does make me sad that we aren't louder and prouder at games. We've every reason to be and yet we seem to act like active support is beneath us a lot of the time because we've already achieved beyond what most clubs' fans would in their wildest dreams.

It's quite sad that he's actually had to console himself with such a heavy defeat by writing that. Things must be bad.

Whoever said it on here was right, it doesn't actually say that much. Full of clichéd platitudes, words and criticisms, some of which we actually level against our own club (goal music and clappers, we're not exactly desperate for them ourselves, son).

Genuinely does read like someone's A-level project or journalism assignment, but I assume it'll get plenty of back slapping praise from fellow Newcastle fans and that's all that matters to this here Jonny.

There's the wider point that loud crowd noise equalling deserved success and isolating your away support as being fully representative of your fanbase, but I'm sure we all know about that already.

What a tool. Can’t wait for them to be relagated back to where they belong. They are not a big club in England, they are a big club in Newcastle and Newcastle alone.

They've never won a domestic trophy in most of their lifetimes. An FA Cup in 1954 and an old Div 1 title in 1927 doesn't make them a 'big' club (whatever that is).

Feels a bit like Tottenham fans claiming to have won the PL in 2016 because of their procession stats.

Newcastle are fairly sized club, but when your trophy cabinet is empty for more than fifty years then I'm not sure you can identify as a big club... its bit like Huddersfield for example if they kept banging on about winning the league in the 1920s are they considered the same?

Interesting thing is probably most toon fans today have probably never seen there team win anything. While fans of Wigan, Swansea, Blackburn and Portsmouth can say they have witnessed summit special.

So he's a Newcastle fan with zero affinity with Newcastle as a city. Yet he claims them as 'us'.

The only time they make alot of noise at home is when they're trying to hound their manager out lol

That being said, our home atmosphere is pretty shite now and the clappers and goal music kill me a little bit inside so he's not wrong there.

Different team I know, but I work with a Cov fan…. The bloke is probably level pegged with the delusion of this lot….

His claims to me recently were;

“Why are yous increasing your capacity, yous don’t even fill the stadium now”

”Brendan is genuinely bigger than your club”

”Our FA cup win was definitely more impressive than yours”

”Potter leaving Brighton to join yous is at a push a sidewards step if not back”

”Your training ground ain’t even that great, it’s probably about as good as Derby”

You could say they’re flippant comments but his steadfast approach and his constant niggling just prove the bloke is genuinely deadly serious. His denial is amazing.

Yep their only major trophy since 1955, yep 1955, was the Fairs Cup in 1969.

Oh of course if you don't count their hoovering up of trophies of the early to mid seventies in the Texaco Cup & Anglo-Italian.:D

So 12 League Champions since 1969, FA Cup winners excluding champs 9 (incl Sunderland), League Cup Winners 10 (including Swindon in '69) & Middlesbrough of course.

So a third of the League and both other North Eastern powerhouses have won a Trophy since Newcastle last won a trophy.

Lot of fans, very passionate, but no success really since their grandfathers were alive, and we all thought Forest were living in the past.

Enjoy supporting your club but leave it at that!!!

.....you have got to admire the love for your own club, but no one "deserves" success!!!

"I’m trying to explain that Newcastle United is massive and really should be in a stronger and higher position (something that we will hopefully achieve soon). Just from our support, we absolutely deserve success and aspiration."- quote from article.

It really does not matter how big you are, nothing wrong with aspiration though, we all have that.

The quick version is some dude from Leicester, who supports Newcastle because he liked Alan Shearer and the film 'Goal' as a kid.

Can't be arsed to travel to Newcastle, infact probably hasn't ever been to a home game, but won tickets and had to sit in the home end.

Was able to watch a real team show him how football is played and is excited to enter future competitions at Derby, Notts Forest & Coventry to hopefully get to another game next season.

Not going to read it but imagine, going on the comments, it's the stuff we usually criticise our club for plus the usual self congratulatory bollocks that away fans give to themselves.

What about their unforgettable 2006 Intertoto Cup Triumph? Look how happy it made Scott Parker.
