Yes it’s like we never existed back in 16 to 19 unsettling all the big boys and we have been over a barrel due to the financial penalties and restrictions all which date back to when we won things - it’s a travesty and yes I know management since has been shocking but still …..poor ol Villa and Newcastle

This is exactly why I get into disagreements about the ‘love in’ for us when we won the league. Nobody wanted us to do it outside of Leicester and real footie fans. The media played along abuse they had to, TV and the footballing powers literally hated it. Everything since has been out in place to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Bad for the game, good for the big boys. Personally I hope it all collapses under its own toxic weight.

Wouldn't have thought that Souttar will get registered in the 25 man squad as it's reported that he will miss at least half a season. If the rumoured transfers of Faes, Justin and El Khannouss go ahead (and others?) then Cifuentes will get his wish for a small squad.

if we have spaces we might on the off chance he's back quicker and needed

Our squad size is such that we need to stop selling without getting someone in.

We need a cb, a lb, a cm (or two), a cf

Then we can still shift Kristiansen, Faes and Winks

We need to keep Fatawu

If BEK goes, we need a CAM.

Our wage bill is down.  Hopefully, our scouts have identified affordable targets who don't need to be paid crippling wages

Disagree, we don’t need all that, especially as youth has a large part to play.

Feels like there's a plethora of good CMs that would be available for loan, James McConnell at Liverpool, Miley at Newcastle, there's a couple at West Ham who's names I forget but they played full seasons in the Championship last season, Kellyman at Chelsea went for a lot of money and isn't in their team, surely we have enough money to get one of those in, though probably not with a transfer clause in there.

Agreed.

The only players we need in, imo, is a Striker (desperately), and a proper defensive minded CM (admittedly unlikely, they come at a premium).

If BEK leaves, then another CAM to replace him would be required.

But other than that, our academy has filled a lot of gaps, which is good. That's what the academy is there for.

I agree, but on the flip side, you shouldn't expect 16 and 17 year olds to play the majority of games in what will be a long gruelling season.

None of them are expected to. At present, they're all in backup roles.

That's precisely why a replacement for BEK is still needed if he leaves, as good as Page is looking.

Currently we need a CM and a striker definitely. If more leave we need more though we can’t just keep selling people if feas leaves we need another cb if kristienson leaves we need a new left back, if BEK leaves we need a new creative midfielder, if winks leaves we need to CMs

Kellyman is from Derby as well so be the chance for him to have a loan closer to home. Loan with an option to buy on promotion could work.

There will be a lot of young premier league players available for loan this week.  I genuinely think now we have shifted out 7 players and only signed one, we are now at a stage where we will start to bring players in, however certain signings may be dependent on a player moving out.

For example if BEK goes we bring in Rego, if VK leaves I think we bring in Harry Amass, if Faes and/or Okoli move on I think Mepham comes in. Once BEK leaves this will be the one that allows us to bring in the midfielder and striker we so desperately need.

Will there be lots? The majority of premier league match day squads have at least two talented youngsters on the bench that would have ordinarily gone out and had a breakout championship season.

Plenty more I know but the real top quality ones who can make a big difference in the Champ are now part of prem first team squads.

The fact that clubs are allowed so many subs now is not helping our chances of getting youngsters from PL clubs.

There's still a lot of clubs that will want some of theirs out on loan playing 30+ Championship games than being lucky to get 5-10 sub appearances in the Prem.

All for blooding the youngsters but IMO these kids need to learn their trade out on loan.

Not sure what game you were watching on Saturday but Page was totally out of his depth.

He shouldn't be anywhere near first XI currently.

I sure as well hope so!

But I would agree with you. Last Championship season, Doyle, Fatawu, Akgun and Casadei were all loan signings, maxing out on the four you can have. I would expect a few as a result.

Exactly - away from home in a game we didn't look like controlling.

The manager obviously sees something in him.

and?

no sentiment in football.

He could be a good player for us in the future. Its not really fair chucking him in at 17 with no previous EFL experience.

He should be sent out on loan to gain valuable experience as per our previous business model in the lower leagues.

Chillwell, KDH, Barnes etc........

Refused to come off the bench the other day because he hates Brussell Martin that much!

Daft coming here then, we'll have appointed Martin by March.

Did you watch Liverpool last night?   Rather him than Winks.

We 100% sign 4 loan players this week - no doubts about it - I wouldn’t bet on us spending any money at all but 4 loans has to happen

left back , 2 cms and a striker has to happen

we can do without another winger - page or alves could do that job if needed if and when any of the other 3 can’t play

The squad is still way too big. The only two positions that don’t require us selling players to bring more in are a striker and box to box midfielder / defensive midfielder (dependent on where Marti see’s Winks’ role).
