Looks like Manure are looking at replacing him, would you take him back if the price was right?

Shouldn't this topic be under "players who used to play for us"? And in answer to the question, definitely not!!

Yes but Evans is a lot older and Maguire hasn’t been injured so I don’t get your point. Of course Evans in his prime is better.

My point is simple....Maguire is not a leader, so would be a poor signing.

Fofana and Soyuncu are perfectly good center backs, and Soyuncu has already proved alongside a leader he looks very very good....Like how Morgan improved massively under Huth.

We need to sign a leader, not Maguire.

The OP was asking if we'd have him back, a legitimate question if you ignore the cost so seems entirely acceptable to be in the Main LCFC Forum in its own right.

Given Man U's huge global fanbase and the media's consequent obsession with them, their players are scrutinised more than players at any other club. Literally every mistake they make is talked about endlessly and hundreds of gifs are made to ridicule them. Really think that Maguire has suffered a lot from this and has been made to look worse than he's been as a result.

I think Maguire was set up to fail from the very start at Man U as he was clearly not worth the fee they paid and on top of that he is not, and has never been, the leader they thought they were buying. As a result he was never going to meet expectations. Throw in a toxic, disunited dressing room, the generally poor form of the team (which is far from being Maguire's fault alone) and his own personal issues (the forthcoming Greek court case must be on his mind) and it really is a perfect storm for him.

That’s far too sensible. Someone on here would rather have Big Dan rather than Maguire !! I can’t believe it !!

He was really poor for Leicester when his head got turned by Man U.

Just wasn't interested in Leicester anymore.

Man U only got him cause he played well in the world cup against poor opposition, was overated here.

He's slow as f*** probably really worth 5m max

Well, I hear what you say but it is debatable given we already have a slot for ex-players.

Got Everton written all over him.

Edit: Or Newcastle!

.... We play a ludicrously high line and he moves like an oil tanker.

It's one reason Vestergaard is such a liability.

Difference is one win header and one doesn't.

Our high line hasn't really been a problem, it's been our ability to defend high balls into the box from open play and set pieces.

Take the last three home league games, Spurs, West Ham, Brighton, 6 goals against.

Spurs 2nd and 3rd goals long balls we fail to deal with, West Ham 1 corner, Brighton failing to deal with a cross.

Only two goal was due to a high line, West Ham first and spurs first.

Have a day off - if it wasn’t for the wages of course we would have him back - still very good and would be perfect to ply with fofana- I don’t get the grief we give him - he did very well for us - played till the last possible minute but couldn’t turn that transfer down - he didn’t do a mahrez and everything Iv ever heard from him he says he loved his time here - still a very good player and would have him back in an absolute heart beat - you want your head wobbled if you say anything different

Consider my head wobbled then. And plenty of others' too no doubt.

Because we've typically been playing Soyuncu and Amartey who can run.

I'd say our high line was very much a problem when Kane absolutely wiped the floor with Vestergaard at home.

No thanks had a great first season was shocking the second . I got bored of him carrying the ball upfield,  hanging on to it too long before then losing possession and then not being able to get back because he runs like a 90 year old with a double hip replacement.

Joking aside I'd swap him for Cags but thats not saying much.

I wouldn't...Cags has gone through a bad period, but he will find himself again...

Or Spurs or Arsenal.

Nah, doesn't fit their signing profile at all.

Pushing 30, England international, over priced and over rated - Everton or Newcastle.

Literally don't know what's happened to the guy, it must be the pressure of joining under such a large fee and then being made captain. It's turned him to jelly.

As much as we joke about him and the media does too, he was a quality player for us and was worthy of getting called up for England when he played for us and then he had a great World Cup. We knew when we sold him we'd had United's pants down with the fee but on the flip side we also knew they were getting a good defender.

He was never that good in the first place he made quite a lot of errors here between him and Chilwell then he had a great tournament for England and that was it.. he fits the old school centre back type big strong good in the air but lacks pace and awareness which is crucial in this league with the amount of technically good and pacey players.

He was absolutely more error prone in his second season but I'm sorry, I'm not having that he was 'never that good in the first place'. He won the player of the season and players player - short memory.

You're definitely blinkered because of the way he left and the way he's spoken about in the media nowadays.
