He was absolutely more error prone in his second season but I'm sorry, I'm not having that he was 'never that good in the first place'. He won the player of the season and players player - short memory.

You're definitely blinkered because of the way he left and the way he's spoken about in the media nowadays.

No I'm not blinkered, I genuinely don't think he's any good, his spell at Man United has highlighted that.. he's just an average defender.

The OP was asking if we'd have him back, a legitimate question if you ignore the cost so seems entirely acceptable to be in the Main LCFC Forum in its own right.

He seems to complain about most threads for some reason.

Well, I hear what you say but it is debatable given we already have a slot for ex-players.

But that is rarely if ever to do with the idea of them coming back, yeah it is subjective but as it was already being well populated it seems like it was the correct decision.

He'd practically fix the set piece problem straight away but we'd be forced into playing a deep line to cover his weaknesses. Which would work against teams like Man City who dominate 90% of the field, but not most weeks.

Also 180k a week! Was rumoured to be about the have that bumped up to 300k a week a couple of months ago. No chance. Doubt even Newcastle will afford him. Its loans or the bench til his contract runs out if it really has come to a head.

It’s sour grapes and a questionable memory. Leicester fans were lauding him whilst he was here !! That’s why he went for £85 million.

He will go Newcastle

Excellent. That will halt their progress by a couple of years. Far to slow for the EPL.

They don’t mind a slow player they’ve purchased Dan Burn.

He's about on par with Soyunchu but much more expensive.

Both are capable of good things, but equally mostly disastrous,  plus, Soyunchu allegedly has a bigger Penis.

I would rather get Tarkowski tbh

Yeah, that names been banded around for ages now, he would be a great signing to play alongside Fofana.

Maguire was great for us, but he has his limitations.  He will suit a mid-table team who don't play a high line and are on the front foot constantly.  I've always said, that in a Big club, where they push up the field his pace would be exposed.

Let's not be revisionist here, he was one of the better players at the club at the time he was here, he carried the ball up the pitch well, he was combative.

It's a shame it hasn't worked out for him, but we sold at his peak and got a good price for him.

We'd have ALL taken Maguire into our Back line this season without a doubt.

Think the hefty price tag for him has gone to his head at times, with the ear-cupping celebrations etc.

Nobody was calling him when played for us.

I'd take him back like a shot.

There were plenty calling him. Half decent first season, awful second - clouded by his England performances.

I thought I’d love him when we signed him but something about him annoys me. I felt like he could never really be that arsed and was always planning on moving as soon as he could. He doesn’t seem to have much passion?

He is very very good at driving forwards from defence but other than that I’d say he’s fairly average. I wouldn’t particularly want him back. X

Don't want him back.

Slow , loses his position and man.

Always comes out with a side ways semi forward move using the outside of his right foot in the left CB position .This ends

With a slow sideways pass to L.B.

He got a bit of hype playing for England

against mediocre opposition.

We can do a lot better for a lot less?

He is being found out .

Top end Championship level .

He switches off far too often, it’s not just the total lack of pace or agility that means he’s a liability.

Oh don't be so ridiculous.
