BKLFox Posted 8 July 2022 Posted 8 July 2022 Hakan Sukur again early 2000s with BlackBurn, drives an Uber in SFO area now after being exiled from Turkey 1
The_77 Posted 8 July 2022 Posted 8 July 2022 FWIW, Kokcu grew up in the Netherlands and was a Dutch youth international. 1
Pliskin Posted 8 July 2022 Posted 8 July 2022 Tuncay was a legend. I’m sure I read he used to stand outside the ground at half time and have a fag or two. 1

Real question is, if we do sign a Turkish player, will Turkish posters returning to FT going to be able to come up with a better comeback post than that one Algerian guy who posted "Surprise, we are back mathfackers" when we signed Ghezzal. 7

We should have referred to them as the Algebrans 2

One of the best players in the history of our football club was "as Turkish" as Kokcu, Muz was a Turkish international of Turkish heritage so. Yknow. If you mean the footballing culture and education a player has come from then, frankly, Kokcu is Dutch. Born and raised and brought up playing football in the Netherlands so. Eh.

st albans fox Posted 8 July 2022 Posted 8 July 2022 He’s not youri - he might be a decent player but he ain’t a straight replacement at the same level anyway, if this is our way forward then let’s just get it done 1

I'm sure he has bags of potential and could be anything in a few years so it’s ok by me for us to buy him …..bring it on …..

HankMarvin Posted 9 July 2022 Posted 9 July 2022 Muzzy Izzet didn’t even have any relatives living in Turkey. His Grandparents were Cypriots that moved to London when his Dad was a toddler.

Foxxed Posted 9 July 2022 Posted 9 July 2022 (edited) His surname is Kirk Chew and translates to rooter apparently. If we get him perhaps we could play a midfield three rather than get in a right winger, then if we can get in a centre back and ideally one who can defend set pieces, then a decent enough window it will be. Daka Barnes Madd Kökçu Ndidi KDH Justin Soy Fofana Ric Kasper With Vardy, Evans, possibly Youri, Soumare, Lookman, Thomas and maybe even Hamza if he keeps up the pre season goodness all being good options.
