Popular Post urban.spaceman Posted 23 August 2022 Popular Post Posted 23 August 2022 (edited) Chelsea's recent bid of £70m was knocked back immediately. Are we being unreasonable? Greedy? My thoughts are thus. We view him as a genuine generational talent. I.E the potential to be genuine world class. Only 2 players have cost more than £70m - VVD and Maguire, who both got their big moves at 27 and 26 respectively. At Fofana's age VVD was still playing for Groningen and Maguire was in League One with Sheffield United. At 21 Fofana is an FA Cup winner and has played in a European Semi Final. We paid £35m for him 2 years ago and St Ettienne have a 15% sell on fee. And he signed a 5 year contract in MARCH. Personally I think anything less than £90m is insulting. moore_94 Posted 23 August 2022 Posted 23 August 2022 At least £1 above the fee for Maguire, has to be a new record for me. 1
Popular Post HankMarvin Posted 23 August 2022 Popular Post Posted 23 August 2022 (edited) Is it 15% the fee seems to change? "European Semi Final" Good PR work Edited 23 August 2022 by HankMarvin 5

FoxesWalk Posted 23 August 2022 Posted 23 August 2022 £80m plus a player, plenty of youth talent there we could acquire here 1
lcfcbluearmy Posted 23 August 2022 Posted 23 August 2022 I voted 90m because of the time in the window if it had happened at the start 75-80 would have probably been fair 2

UHDrive Posted 23 August 2022 Posted 23 August 2022 I figure with Chelsea, we got more than expected for Drinkwater but not by much (say £5mil), got rinsed on Kante, sold for £35mil (should've been £50mil at least imo), and Chilwell I think we still couldve got £10mil more. Maybe these figure together with thinking they've screwed us over multiple times before has given me the opinion that they can take it or leave. I hope the club have told Chelsea straight.
Vlad the Fox Posted 23 August 2022 Posted 23 August 2022 £110m+ He’s not for sale, we don’t need to sell, we don’t want to sell, especially this window. As a result they pay an absolute fortune for him or go away.

However if he does go , we should spend every penny on our disfunctional defense.
kristianity77 Posted 23 August 2022 Posted 23 August 2022 80 million for me is fine. And it's money up front, no conditions, 80 million 1
dannythefox Posted 23 August 2022 Posted 23 August 2022 80 plus 10 add ons the 10 for being 🛎 ends about it.
Nalis Posted 23 August 2022 Posted 23 August 2022 80m up front or 90m in instalments. They're still getting a bargain with 80m though.
FoxinNotts Posted 23 August 2022 Posted 23 August 2022 Can’t vote, as it should be in gradients of £5m
hamptonfox Posted 23 August 2022 Posted 23 August 2022 £90M minimum. Too late in the Transfer window now, to be panic buying a replacement.

Sharpe's Fox Posted 23 August 2022 Posted 23 August 2022 The difference is he's 21. He will in all likelihood get a 5 year contract at Chelsea putting him at 25 in his last year of the deal. That gives Chelsea massive resale value even if he gets another deal at some point since any buying club will be getting a player barely hitting his peak years. Its a no brainer to drag this out till we get the money we want even for another year. 2

Didn't Percy say that the last offer was £60m with a further £10m in (unrealistic) add ons? I think that's more of the issue. I would accept £70m straight fee. Another £5m in add ons and a player or two on loan with them doing the heavy lifting on wages.
Lichfieldfox. Posted 24 August 2022 Posted 24 August 2022 Chelsea need to meet our valuation. Given the club have repeatedly said he's not for sale the offer has to be silly money for us to consider. Chelsea have offered Everton 60m for Anthony Gordon, now that's silly money for a player who cost them nothing and who has only played 52 games I the premier league, never played international or European football a dwould probably sit on the bench at best.
