Kane hasn’t delivered when the heat has been on. Fortunate in the euros that his missed penalty rebounded to him.
 

That said I thought he was putting that behind him today, he was excellent and deserved at least a couple of goals. This could have been remembered as an all time great England performance had he tucked away the second and we’d won.

Great performance. France should feel extremely relieved. We were by far the better team in that second half. Did a great job on M'Bappe yet two sloppy goals and a missed sitter undone all the hard work. 

 

The most disappointing thing for me tonight was that Mount yet again got game time ahead of others. Of course I'd have loved to see Maddison get on the pitch, but putting my bias aside for one moment, what has Mount done to warrant getting on ahead of Grealish?!?

Anyone getting riled about that hasn't been watching our tournament exits for the last 50 years.

 

We qualified (hello Scotland :P).

 

We did alright to get the quarters (Hi Belgium and Germany).

 

We only slightly lost a game of tight margins to the reigning champions.

And yes, I've been saying that for years.

 

Golden generation? No, Wasted generation under the current management. 

Capello who the players hated, no thanks. I don't rate Southgate, more because I don't think he had done anything prior to being appointed to actually warrant the job. A 'better' manager might have taken us further, but on paper those two were bigger and better yet Southgate has achieved more than either of those with England, and let's be honest Sven had side's with just as much talent. Golden generations don't really mean anything if there's other sides better than you anyway.

He’s bailed us out many times. 
 

I’m no where near as annoyed about that missed penalty, as I was about his performance against Iceland.

Just never have the luck do we. I actually thought we played well, absolutrly didn't deserve to lose. Gutted as much as the next Englishman but the lads didn't play badly tonight.

You can argue that Southgates tournament record has been good. You could also argue that with the current crop of players at his disposal, we should be winning something. Other than the team with Gerrard, Lampard etc, this is the best England team we've had for ages. Our strength is our attack yet we again manage to create very little other than a couple of penalties. France's defence is absolute shite yet we barely troubled them. Piss off Southgate and don't allow this golden generation of English talent to carry on being nearly men.
