I'll be honest I don't know anything about this chap other than a quick glance at the league table, but just from watching that short video posted above it's a 'no' from me. Stinks of self importance, words for the sake of words, 'oh I love the sound of my own voice'. I think in his head he thought he was being inspirational but the players looked so bored that it was clear they'd checked out after the first 20 seconds.

Also his attitude towards the photographer who walked in half way through was awful, really rude in my opinion and smacked of being an arrogant self entitled ****. Those sort of values and attitudes soon rub off on the players when they see they're figurehead leading by example in this way which I feel aren't particularly well aligned to the values and culture that we have as both a club and a fan base.

I do think we'll end up sticking with Deano regardless of what league we end up in.

But it goes to show the club have absolutely no idea when they looked at Marsch and are now linked to Russell Martin, listening to that just reminds me of Martin mad dog Allen.

I was browsing this thread when I coincidentally received a text from a Swansea-supporting friend on the same topic. He sent me a smiling face emoji followed by the words, “You’re welcome to him”.

Which, ahem, bodes well…😳

I work with a Swansea fan. He also feels the same way. Doesn't rate him.

Keep Smith and Co for me whatever league we end up in....Unless we are really going to invest heavily in the summer in the prem.

I don't want this guy.

Jesus. Not so long ago we could have tempted most top tier coaches in all of Europe, and now we’re looking at who has an ok track record in the Football League. Clearly better to keep Smiffy and Shakey than him.

Spoke to my source who’s an estate agent about this (see previous posts) he has told me (don’t shoot the messenger just passing on what I’ve been told) that he’s been looking for a house in Oadby or Hamilton. Once again he might just have an interest in soulless East Midlands housing estates, but it does make you think

At least look at young managers who’ve achieved something. McKenna at Ipswich for me. If we go down Robins or McKenna. Obviously as long as cov don’t go up.

Totally agree. Robins or McKenna are great shouts. Robins in particular has done a brilliant job rebuilding Cov.

Avoid at all costs!  Have watched Swansea at Huddersfield these past 2 seasons. Endless tippy, tippy quite pointless possession with few, if any, incisive passes. Both games bore draws despite Swansea clearly having the better players but unable to impose themselves and reluctant to test the home keeper and defenders. Forever taking the easy sideway / backward option - sound familiar?

Surely this is Preki level speculation?

Not even Rudders is that clueless……..hmm ……then again…..sh*t

How do folks, hope you don’t mind us adding a bit to the debate. We have run a report this morning, a bit tongue in cheek on this with your forum comments. We usually get around 5-8k views for our news stories.

Online the older generation seem to be split on Russell Martin, but overall all he has quite a lot of support. It’s more about people believing what he can do as opposed to seeing the proof.  His dissenters repeat the same things over and over again and his supporters the same. His football is unique to the championship. The players seem to love him and he creates a siege mentality.

His stats were not good at all leading in to the final ten games of this season. He has won six of the last eight, the other two being draws. Before that I think he won around three in twenty. We will probably  miss out on the play offs by around four points. When all told.

Sometimes the teams performances have been unbelievably good, scoring goals and dominating, however a few times this season it’s gone to pieces. Martin is learning and his non supporting public don’t seem to allow him to do that, entitled or just bored by his ‘process’ Without doubt he is going to be a big name one day. The Swans have a good history of appointing managers, Roberto Martinez, Brendan Rodgers, Steve Cooper and Graeme Potter, can’t see this guy being any different.

Heres  a link, best in your fight to avoid joining us.

This makes me feel sick

I'd rather have James Martin

At least he'd raise the standards of the concourse cuisine

took a look on the swansea forum and found this:

Now what’s weird is that all the comments in the thread were just so shocked that he was speaking so highly of their achievements when they’ve simply underperformed again.

They all seemed to think that the squad is hugely talented. They all seem to think that he cares more about winning possession than football matches. He’d rather have a pretty game of football than fight to hold out for a win. and finally they got no wins against the teams in the top 6.

It all sounds like brendan and i’m not here for it at all

This is absolutely vile. Said a lot but nothing at all. Loser
