Makes me curious what people believed this rebuild would look like

Also you have to remember it’s a process (which all of us have little operational information or knowledge of) and whilst we’d all love to be set for season start, it’s only really after the deadline that you can analyse and ultimately panic.

I have to remind myself of this cos it’s a natural response to what feels a slow pace and clear deficiencies not being addressed.

He’s doing what all Italians do… building from the back. I’m reassured by this approach

...not sure we can continue to use this phrase!!!

He is in effect replicating the processes and systems installed at his previous club, by a manager who hails from Spain and was heavily influenced, by a former player from Holland.

He'll fail it when they can't find any guts on his CT scan.

Liver isn’t in great shape either….. allegedly…

What’s wrong with that?

Annoying that Newcastle are getting a bargain for a 25 year old capped Englishman with 13 goals in a relegated PL side. They're getting more for St Maximan FFS, but I guess our hands are tied.

Not a chance lol

Perez has had a better career in the last 5 years than Newcastle have had for 20!

Newcastle have got a huge discount on him :(. Hate Newcastle but I hope Barnes really shows what he is capable of there, he has improved for us every year in a team that got gradually worse and worse so he could never shine as he deserved. Wouldn't be surprised to see him break 20 goal contributions a season at Tyneside.

Only thing Newcastle are missing is some proper creativity, think they might regret not signing Maddison for such a bargain. Maybe their midfield can split the creative burden between them, we'll see.

It’s all good selling these players now but if we do get promoted then we won’t have the quality to stay up!

Who cares we are in the championship, we can worry about the premier league if and when we get back there.

They're only getting that much for Maximin because they asked Daddy in Saudi to give them a decent fee. Nobody else would have paid that much for a stepover merchant.

...he is a professional sportsman!!!

He has a duty to maintain a certain level of fitness and bouts of excessive drinking curtailed  Paul Gascoigne's career.  Wenger changed the Arsenal culture immediately he walked in and instigated a better nutritional plan for his players.

If you have to get drunk every week to get through it, there is obviously an inability to cope with what is going on in your life. Perhaps the need for counselling is a road he should go down,  because when his career ends, he will have even more time to imbibe and little motivation to get out if bed.

Yep, as far as I'm aware there's a transfer window next summer too...

Doesn’t he have a child due soon ?  This often changes the mindset of a person although it can occasionally make things worse!

They're giving themselves money for ASM, they'll "get" as much for him as they need.

Sounds like the 38 million has a better chance of passing his medical according to this place anyway.

No chance he will pass the medical if he's a raging alcoholic who needs counselling if we are to believe what people are saying here.

Our fan base is embarrassing.

Gave us some great years and I hope he kicks on fot the rest of his career.

One of the best we have ever had wear the shirt.

One of our own legends for me.
