Nothing wrong with that expectation Haha. We would all take that. But after a season that seems like it’s going to consist of dominant performances and wins, I’m dreading 8 games in with more defeats than wins and “Maresca out” “this is shit” 2

Getting the latter in in the first instance was the mistake. 1

Lionator Posted 8 October 2023 Posted 8 October 2023 Imagine Enzo v Rooney. Eustace will have a better managerial career than Rooney, it’s a silly decision. 1

A number of years ago, they got rid of Gary Rowett when they were around the playoffs. Just looked who for and it was Gianfranco Zola who lasted 4 months and they were flirting with relegation for a while thereafter. Lets hope this backfired too and they finally get flushed to L1!
Babylon Posted 8 October 2023 Posted 8 October 2023 Just realised Sunderland who are fourth are as close to 22nd place and the relegation places as there are us…. 11 points 4

lnkstern Posted 8 October 2023 Posted 8 October 2023 (edited) Stats for the previous 19 Championship seasons (from Wikipedia). - Safety from relegation in a typical season: 50 points. In an outlier season: 53 points. Leicester City were relegated in 2008 with 52 points. - Automatic promotion (top two) in a typical season: 90 points. In an outlier season: 93 points. Leicester City after a quarter (1/4, 25%) of the season (approximately). - 30 points -- 3/5 (60%) of the points necessary to guarantee safety. -- 1/3 (33%) of the points necessary for automatic promotion. We are well ahead of the required points rate for automatic promotion. To me, the important bit is that we have a nice points cushion. We all know some sort of rough patch will show up, whether because of injury, fatigue, or other circumstance. The bigger the cushion we can accumulate now, the less we have to fret over occasional dropped points. We know we won't finish the season with 120 points, but 90 points seems eminently attainable. I will be happy with simply getting promoted. Edited 8 October 2023 by lnkstern 3 1

I will be happy with simply getting promoted. We’ve made the best start to a Championship season since Sheffield United in 2005/06. They finished with 90 points that season in second place. They were 16 points behind Reading who finished first on 106, but that in itself was a record

Iain Dowie has a masters in engineering and Frank Lampard has an IQ that would qualify him for Mensa, and both are bloody awful managers.
