Rooney taking the Birmingham job with O'Shea and Ashley Cole his coaches.

Could be a good one for Birmingham

Bit surprising to be honest Eustace has done a good job.

Happily settle for another great escape and then a title win in 25/26. Nice way to honour 10 years on after our first.

Nothing wrong with that expectation

Haha. We would all take that.

But after a season that seems like it’s going to consist of dominant performances and wins, I’m dreading 8 games in with more defeats than wins and “Maresca out” “this is shit”

But they're 6th with their current set up and playing some good stuff.

Don't see the sense personally.

Its a very Birmingham thing to do, just as things are going well, change it all.

it’s the equivalent of when we were doing well and the new owners wanted a name so went for sven…. if that’s what’s happening anyway, there was talk about him wanting to go to rangers

Sven was after Sousa when we’d done terribly! Getting the latter in in the first instance was the mistake.

Leeds won't be a big test they are shite

Started poorly with a lot of players looking elsewhere, but Farke sets them up well and is a good championship manager

A number of years ago, they got rid of Gary Rowett when they were around the playoffs. Just looked who for and it was Gianfranco Zola who lasted 4 months and they were flirting with relegation for a while thereafter.

Lets hope this backfired too and they finally get flushed to L1!

Rooney will never be a top manager. He's too thick.

Tbf, there aren’t many footballers, or ex footballers that hold a Mensa membership.

Eustace after a 2-0 defeat to "probably the best squad in the league " in September. Watford currently sit in 20th place.

I agree. But Birmingham isn't a top job so that's about his level.

Stats for the previous 19 Championship seasons (from Wikipedia).

- Safety from relegation in a typical season: 50 points.  In an outlier season: 53 points.  Leicester City were relegated in 2008 with 52 points.

- Automatic promotion (top two) in a typical season: 90 points.  In an outlier season: 93 points.

Leicester City after a quarter (1/4, 25%) of the season (approximately).

- 30 points

-- 3/5 (60%) of the points necessary to guarantee safety.

-- 1/3 (33%) of the points necessary for automatic promotion.

We are well ahead of the required points rate for automatic promotion.

To me, the important bit is that we have a nice points cushion.  We all know some sort of rough patch will show up, whether because of injury, fatigue, or other circumstance.  The bigger the cushion we can accumulate now, the less we have to fret over occasional dropped points.

We know we won't finish the season with 120 points, but 90 points seems eminently attainable.  I will be happy with simply getting promoted.

We’ve made the best start to a Championship season since Sheffield United in 2005/06. They finished with 90 points that season in second place. They were 16 points behind Reading who finished first on 106, but that in itself was a record

I expect the Brum fans will give it to JV even more when we play them.

Vardy hat trick incoming....

Iain Dowie has a masters in engineering and Frank Lampard has an IQ that would qualify him for Mensa, and both are bloody awful managers.

I think the point is that the sooner it seems pretty much certain that we will be promoted, the sooner we can start proper negs on transfer targets
