I would imagine so, he's playing central midfield in a team at the top of the division. All our midfielders are included in that stat.

His passing and first touch is still horrible to see 9 times out of 10.

No it isn't, he definitely has a lot to improve on but this kind of opinion on him just stinks of someone not rating him regardless of what he does.

So it doesn’t matter whether Kristiansen could be used in the Doyle role or not, he didn’t want to.

“I needed to change teams” – Player immediately asked agent for Leicester exit after chat with Maresca

As Leicester City loanee Victor Kristiansen today had a word with the Italian media, he had something interesting to say about his time with the Foxes.

This summer, the left-back was sent to Bologna, and claimed that the relegation to the Championship is actually not the only reason why he left the English club.

In quotes relayed by Bologna Sport News,Kristiansen was first asked about his choice to make the move. He explained he wasn’t feeling comfortable at Leicester City since the arrival of Enzo Maresca, and due to the lack of chances of playing in his natural position, he preferred to leave the Foxes.

“When Leicester changed manager they wanted me to play as a central defender, but I preferred to continue playing in my role,” said Kristiansen.

“I told my agent that I needed to change teams to be a full-back. Bologna arrived offering me a nice project. The first match was good, we won which is the most important thing and played a good match.”

The fullback also recalled his arrival at Leicester City, claiming he’s still glad he made that choice to get some experience in English football.

“It wasn’t easy. I went to Leicester to play in the Premier League even though the team were in a bad position in the standings, and in fact were relegated, but I couldn’t say no to the English championship. At the same time, I’m grateful for this period because it made me stronger. Now I’m very happy to be in Bologna.”

Kristiansen was signed by Leicester City on a €14m move from FC Copenhagen in January 2023. He only made 14 appearances before leaving the cub this summer.

The 20-year-old is now loaned to Bologna until the end of the season, with the Italian side holding a buying option over him.

Poor mentality imo.

I don’t think he’ll be missed to be honest.

Waste of a squad place if he didn’t want to be here, so rightly gone.

If that’s the case I’m happy to see him gone. I understand his reasoning, but ultimately we learned last year that we need more team players.

If he’s not even willing to play a slightly different role (only difference is not being able to overlap) for the better of the team then that tells you all you need to know.

I am surprised he’s speaking this way however, despite Bologna having an option to buy, ultimately he’s still under contract with us. Not a good look on his behalf for me.

In reality the Doyle role isn’t really a traditional CB role, predominantly he plays as a LB and he gets forward a lot so in hindsight I think VK was a little hasty in pushing for a move due to not wanting to play that role, as I really don’t believe it is that different.

what is clear is that as soon as players declared they wanted out it was a decision by the club, Enzo or both that these players would not be included as part of the matchday group which for me is 100% the correct decision.

Possibly, but also possibly poor or inflexible management, trying to shoehorn a player into a position he hasn't played, or if he has,  isn't comfortable in.

Square pegs into round holes and all that.

Something Enzo seems to resort too, in order to play his system, even if he doesn't currently have the players he would like to have, to play in that system.

For him it's all about his system, and hoping he can make it work, even if that means hammering in those square pegs into the round holes.

The modern game.

Takes the high road, yet makes in clear he sees no future under Maresca.  So when Bologna come in to low-ball the buyout price, we'll see it as in our interest to get something done instead of hold out.

Might well have been coached by his agent.

Victor looked good when he arrived all excited to play I even remember that video in the gym of him  dancing.

here we are he’s already gone. Shame it didn’t work out. There’s a good player in him just needs coaching out the sloppy stuff.

Disappointed with this and to be honest I agree with some of the notion that the mentality is poor. At 20 years old turning down the chance to learn to become a dynamic full back that both attacks, defends and drifts into the middle and becomes a more all rounded player isn't very confidence filling.
The way he's worded this it sounds like at such a young age he's already decided that he can only play one position with a set role, worrying especially given the fact he was pretty poor both defensively and offensively when he was utilised as an out-and-out fullback.

Just surprised that someone doesn't want to expand their capabilities beyond a fairly rigid role.

I reckon I’d be telling Enzo I didn’t fancy it if I got offered the chance to go live and play in Bologna for a year. Bet the spag bol is world class
