Players wouldn't usually keep going down the same road, day after day. It would surely be deemed unprofessional if there wasn’t more motivation than Rutter’s post match interview and Leeds playing their usual post match songs

I  always remember on Talk Sport in 2016 the day after the Arsenal game a journalist said he'd seen something in our players eyes (no, not tears) that made him think it could backfire on Arsenal, a more determined than ever kind of attitude, added incentive. Arsenal players had continued the "Who Are Ya" song of the fans and rubbed it in to a huge degree, stuff that surprised experienced reporters, for a side on what, 6-8 times our budget, who had just won a league game on their way to coming second. They tried to break our spirit thinking the inexperience of being at that height would now tell. See how that worked out , Ta Ramsey, Sanchez and co for being Grade A that day. Who are we? This is who we were:-

The game was very different back then and probably illustrates more about the problems now rather than how good or otherwise Leeds were back in the day

Leeds didn't. They won in the old 1st Division in 91/92.  The trophy previous to that was in the mid 70's.

Said it plenty of times, that was the game where I started believing we would win it as well, not Man City away. Absolutely gutting and it felt like Watford, with an international break to stew on it if memory serves- just knew with that group that they would use it to get a positive reaction.

 

As for this beef with Leeds... I'm all for it. Don't dish it out if you can't take it back. If anything, it will be adding even more pressure on them in the play-offs too

At the time I thought it was unwise for Enzo to make that comment but we gotta cut him some slack. He knew what Leeds fans were saying and the media wanted to hear. It’s a little dip into the mind games.

 

To be fair the Leeds fans have started this banter from the beginning. Coming after us and being the best team in the league certainly doesn’t help their cause now.

Leicester just responded in kind. Those 2 games with them were hyped up by the media and Leeds fans. Yeh it does irk me a little that we didn’t pummel in the 2nd game but we had issues that were going on. Anyway, I can move on knowing “we are the champions, no time for losers (Leeds) cuz we are the champion’s!”

 

Good luck to Leeds in the play offs they will need it. All that arrogance will be used as fuel by their rivals now.

It's funny really how Leeds view themselves and to an extent, how they're viewed by others when you actually consider their honours. Their major honours list is comparable to ours, yet they're viewed as a fallen giant and one of the biggest clubs in the country, and we're 'plucky Leicester'. I get that they have a big fanbase, but they're also the the only club in a city that is much bigger than ours, and there are lots of big towns/cities near Leeds such as Wakefield and Dewsbury that don't have a professional football team to support. It's also worth mentioning that we've spent more seasons in the top flight and fewer in the third tier.

Like others have said, we'll forget about this temporary rivalry pretty much overnight.

 

They won't though, and that's what's funny about it. Guaranteed you'll have them bringing it up when we next play them 8 years from now

I get the feeling there are still a few with a chip on their shoulder over the League One season. They were pretty overconfident then too - Steve Howard's header completely derailed them at the business end. Imagine bottling a playoff Semi to Millwall and then watching them lose to the mighty Scunthorpe in the final.

Great to reflect on our recent history but nice to remain humble. Major honour wise (top division, fa cup and League cup) not a lot before 1997. I'm  sure fans were still proud of our club

They did the same with Derby and Villa as well and came out second best.
