I think a lot of responses shows people's true colours in relation to their opinion of us when we were winning the league and really taking it to the big boys. They were never "backing us" and "hoping you do it for football". They were all just unbelievably jealous it wasn't them.

I would call us cheats yeah, no sugar coating it from me. We knew what we were doing.

Or Forest and Everton staying up at our expense by breaking PSR. Bournemouth are former championship PSR breakers during a promotion, big 6 are all guilty of cartel behaviour, trying to set up a super league to destroy the English football pyramid, plus Chelsea and Man City have broken financial rules on several occasions. 

 

Most of the top flight have had their fair share of "cheating" under their belts at some point.

Any amount of whataboutism doesn't mean we didn't cheat. 

And even then we, evidently, cheated in a less effective way than anyone else, since we overspent to end up with 3 relegations in 4 years and a terrible squad of average/toxic overpaid players, now resulting in an existential crisis for the club.

I know what you're saying, but I really wouldn't credit anyone at the club - literally no one - as knowing what they are doing. 

 

Think what we've seen since Vichai passed as proof of that.

Slightly amusing that on Twitter I’ve seen plenty of Everton fans twisting the knife (fair enough tbf) but also plenty of Everton fans saying they’d take our last 10 years over theirs even if it meant going into league one

Can our over paying on agent fees, transfers & wages of players no one else wanted really be classed as cheating? 

Surely cheating in these football terms would be; to buy a player with incentives & not declare them, sell something you own to yourself, have 3rd party ownerships & disguise owner funding as sponsorship revenue, but this is being classed as 'clever accounting' by some fans 

When stripped back we basically had champagne tastes on beer money & went overdrawn, that's stupidity not cheating.

Although it’s quite funny if you look on say BBC Sport, we are third biggest story and they are ****ing nowhere

Everton is such a funny club. Should be a constant top 6 club – great history, huge fanbase etc. Could genuinely be a big club. 

Yet, they're known as the turd that won't flush, having achieved nothing but a succession of near-escape survival acts for the past 30 years.

Im unfortunate enough to know a bit part Cov fan (well he’s from Cov, still lives there but supports Man Utd first) Cov now his second team and his smirking face really annoyed me last time I saw him, he couldn’t suppress a smile when asking what was going wrong with us. I hope they get hammered every week next season and I’ve toyed with pretending to support Man City as my second team just to annoy him 🤣 

I also wanted Spurs to go down but not so sure now as them staying up makes it harder for Cov next season.
