Stop this bloody 'swamp draining' nonsense re: BDR. There's no evidence of him being anything other than professional. Smacks of stereotyping.

i mean the swamp draining stuff refers to players on big wedges contributing nothing to the team. Him being a consummate professional doesn't really counteract that he is drawing a lot of money from us while not impressing on the pitch and broadly just being an obstacle to youth teamers getting their breaks

That’s true , but it’s not his fault the club offered him a crazy contract

Since he struggles to kick a ball more than 5 yards I do genuinely have a suspicion you are wrong.

He’s got far more composure and awareness around the box than daka, he might not have shown it last season but historically you can see that.

Whether or not his legs have simply gone, I don’t know

That's possibly the worst take I've ever heard. In football. Not just City

Always thought the narrative around Reid was harsh just because the deal was so shite. He had a few spells last season, I think he’ll be a good asset at this level

Totally agree.

The cope of lower standard opposition means his ability is suddenly going to improve is kicking in.

It was the same with Daka and Ayew.  Both are still dog shit and an embarrassment to watch.  Ayew still doesn’t pass the ball, stops attacks and falls over.  Daka still can’t control the ball, shoot on target and falls over.

It’s not a stat boost playing in the lower leagues if they can’t do the basics.

Given how he spoke about him on the podcast it’s probably not a surprise. Let’s see how he does if he comes on.

I just can’t shake what I witnessed when Reid played for us last season.

Just because we’re playing in the second tier doesn’t mean that he has now worked out at 32 how to trap or kick a ball further than 5 yards.

Agree, he (along with pretty much everyone) was anonymous at best last year. Time will tell if a new manager and environment can bring the best out of him. If I had to choose though between McAteer on the bench or £12m in the bank and Bobby on the bench it’s the latter all day.
