With Man City, Newcastle and Chelsea all behind them too. There's no chance they get Champions League football. I think even Bournemouth and Villa will finish above them. All this to end up playing some Latvian pub team in the Conference League.

I've seen FK Liepeja and they'd absolutely ruin our shit defence.

I was gonna say - Latvia doesn't sound like a bad place to visit :P

What's all this nonsense about Spurs being in a relegation battle?

Teams will probably need 27-30 points to stay up this year and Spurs are already on 24...?

Just media guff. Same with "Man United in a relegation battle".

No chance. They'll finish 12-15th and look like mugs but fundamentally they're ok.

Weirdly if they win the Europa it'll be their best season for a long time despite that. That's what my Spurs mate is trying to tell me anyway

I've just seen Ndiaye got booked for his celebration against Brighton. Doing a seagull impression like Vardy did the eagle against Palace.

Vardy winds up Spurs fans a day later and gets nothing lol

Point being why the hell was Ndiaye booked?!

I personally find it pretty mad that Foden doesn’t get booked for pretending to shoot a gun lol

Because some refs decide that they're going to make an example of a lower placed club's player for someone they wouldn't dare do to a player from a big club. And they usually make up some fringe rule or exaggerate it to extremes in order to book them.

It happened a few seasons ago to us when Gillett booked and sent off Lemina for jogging towards him to question a decision. Apparently he was the 3rd player to come over to him so that warranted a booking. It's literally never happened again since with any other ref.

Ultimately they're cowards who make shit up when they want because they know there's no consequences.

Which is a good point to make with what's happened to Oliver for sending Lewis-Skelley off. PGMOL are crying about the abuse he's getting, which isn't right, but it's partly their fault for allowing zero accountability with all their officials.

I definitely think there wouldn’t have been as much fuss had it been a lower table player sent off .

Vardy is the goat. You can't criticize goats.

Or when West Ham got dumped out by Astra Giurgiu when they thought they were going to get a European run in their shiny new stadium.

Booked for catching the ball? I mean it's a tricky one because technically it is a yellow.. the game is decided on such fine margins you can't have people in other games just deciding when they want to go off like that and breaking up play. Similar to those players that have 'head injuries' when they've been caught somewhere else. Likewise, someone takes their shirt off in celebration and it's a nice message, not political or gambling etc it's better to just be consistent and give the card when everyone knows the rules. Maybe I'm being harsh.

Yellow all day long

Incredible scenes this morning as Chris Sutton manages to somehow shoehorn us in to a piece about Bournemouth.....

Bournemouth are great in transition, they create an abundance of chances and they don't have a recognised centre forward and players are playing in makeshift positions.

You look at Lewis Cook, the right-back who is a central midfielder, Dango Ouattara up front.

They are a joy to watch and with the last two results we have all sat up and really noticed them and that's probably doing Bournemouth an injustice because I have looked at their record and they are unbeaten in 12, they've beaten Arsenal and Manchester City already this season.

With respect, what's the expectation at Bournemouth?

The fans may have high expectations but you look at all the teams in the Premier League, the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham, even Leicester, sides where the fanbase expect far more from the teams, I do think that because of the confidence they have, Bournemouth just rock up every week and they back themselves.

Now they are absolutely full of confidence, they are flying.

Really well put.

The only consistent thing about officiating in England is the consistent ridiculous application of the rules as and when they want to. Booking for a seagull celebration is pathetic, as was the sending off of Lewis-Skelley.

Yes the abuse is not right and shouldn't happen, but when officials can almost do exactly what they want on the pitch without any sort of repercussions, this will continue

Ndiaye getting booked for harmless panto villainy is properly crap.

Vardy doing something similar with the Spurs fans has led to the Premier League giving it "oh Jamie what you like" on their social media channels.

That's how it should be but it does feel like Vardy gets special treatment if others are getting booked.

I don’t condone the drug taking in any way but again it’s the elephant in the room,

how is there still not an openly gay player in Men’s professional football in England? Is it the fans fault? Is it because the abuse will be endless just look at the chant that Vardy gets every single game about his wife

why is there an apparent stigma to being gay in the sport on the men’s side? does it make the player any better or worse?

The latest UK census shows on average 1 in 33 people consider themselves to be gay but in 92 professional Mens’s clubs in England we haven’t got an openly gay player

Having worked in academy and youth football for the last few years, I'd say it's just not the most welcoming environment at all. That doesn't mean that there are zero gay footballers but it does mean that there might be plenty of young gay/ bi lads who make a decision not to continue being involved with something that they might never succeed at, which could also be very detrimental to both their mental health and physical safety.

I think you'd see less in-stadium/on-pitch abuse as you might think but the abuse on-line would be awful.

I can 100% understand why a referee would hide their sexuality, they get ridiculous abuse as it is and it would only be worse if trolls online had another stick to beat them with.

I don’t care about Coote’s sexuality, but I care that he’s quite clearly using it as a spin to get himself out of trouble. Very little is made of things like this because people lap it right up. Wrong is wrong, why throw a whole community into the mix because you ****ed up?

The Spacey/Schofield tactic

I presume he is tying to say he was drugged up when making those comments about Klopp  because he was scared about being gay ?

Which was a few years ago and he still kept officiating afterwards

Suspect isn't it.

I can imagine Coote got a call from Howard Webb at the PGMOL along these lines...

'Cootey, I know you're out in the cold and you've been sacked, but you couldn't do us a favour and come out gay could you? Our prized goose Michael Oliver's getting some flack that's uncovering the shambles and corrupt body that we are. You'll take a bit of heat off us.'
