This club World Cup is already a bit mad. Man City have essentially just signed a player with the sole purpose of helping them win £100m, for £40m who might not actually end up playing for them that much in the Premier League as soon as Rodri is back.

Assuming you mean Reijnders, he's much more of an attack-minded player than Rodri so I don't expect they're really going to be competing for the same spot. KDB is gone and Bernardo, Gundogan and Kovacic are all in their 30s (and looked about twice as old for much of last season) with the first two of those out of contract next year. I wouldn't agree it's solely a Club World Cup signing at all.

Reijnders? Surely he'll play ahead of Gundogan or be the De Bruyne replacement?

Rodri and Reijnders will both play.

Reijnders has been signed for his ball progression and goal contributions.

Fair enough, perhaps i’m a bit wide of the mark on that one. I’ve seen him a few times this season and doesn’t strike me as very Man City, could probably say that about a lot of their recent signings though to be fair.

I do think he’s the sort of signing they might not have rushed to make without the allure of him essentially being paid for and then some if they win this tournament.

So flogging hotels, car parks etc to themselves has given Chelsea massive room in PSR then

That's insane by Brighton, and they even had a huge transfer outlay last summer. If it's the same for this season, Hurzeler really has no excuse for not challenging for CL

The sport is completely broken.

Tell me about it the Saudi’s were going to pay ZZ £84m for a single season managing in their league.

Money was rotting the game prior to the Saudi’s getting involved now we might as well forget it as they target those so called top sides with flakey contracts effectively paying consultancy fees & wages to raise the leagues profile without fully binding clubs, managers and players to fixed long term contracts. 😞

I don't think Saudi will have a massive difference to anything.

China tried doing a similar thing for a few years didn't they, Oscar going somewhere for similar money is one that springs to mind.

I know that they're different contexts but I don't think there will be an exodus of talent over there or that it will really impact fees/wages over here.

maybe, i was really thinking about the shifting of silly money around with the Saudi's helping out the CEO owners of these named clubs as we know they will be winkle shaking in their masonic lodges

Can someone explain this to me like I'm 12...does this mean Chelsea can potentially make a loss of £299m and still be within PSR guidelines, Burnley however have to make a £20m profit?

That is according to their projections pre-tax, yes.

I expect those losses include the allowable losses/deductibles too.

Just shows how broken football is. They don't want a competitive league and just want the bigger clubs to benefit.

This carries on, the promoted clubs don't stand a chance...ever.

Corrupt, the lot of them

Modern day football reminds me of F1 these days. Constantly introducing new rules away from the track, that’s under the guise of keeping things interesting, but actually completely nullifies the sport.

I don’t understand PSR, and I don’t want to understand PSR either.

Just like VAR, it’s more of a topic of conversation on a weekly basis than the 22 blokes on the pitch.

Seems that palace’s offer to put their owner’s shares in blind trusts has been rejected cos too late. (Must be done by 1 march)

their two US shareholders have holdings in Lyon and brondby (in europa league and conf league)

Reckon that they’ll have to sell their shares in one of the clubs (whichever is easiest and cheapest to do) and then buy them back once knocked out of the relevant tournament.  Of course it will be a charade and whilst a legal sale, nothing would be any different. (Ie. There will be a legal document locked away which means that the shares have to be sold back at the same price).
