The scandal came to light when the female whistle-blower Group Captain highlighted the issue. This is rather more important than who fronts a tv footie show Agreed, there are far bigger issues in the world than who hosts motd. Many will watch it regardless and others won't bother. I'm not really that arsed to be fair, it's only a talking point because it's the international break and there's not much else going on 1

Is there a further point being driven at here? 2

Popular Post leicsmac Posted 14 November 2024 Popular Post Posted 14 November 2024 Anyhow, on topic, thanks Gary. Local boy, helped save the club and has spoken out for LCFC when most other big names only have eyes for the "Big 6". 5
Muzzy_no7 Posted 14 November 2024 Posted 14 November 2024 Chappers would be the best option IMO. Other very good options would be Laura Woods or Dan Walker but we all know who the BBC will put in place.

Pulling up the drawbridge won't save the UK or anywhere else from the existing and future problems. So here we are, I guess. Agreed, but then one might want to look at the degree of the differing wrongs. As someone married to a woman and the father of a daughter and grandfather to a girl I understand the obstacles women face.

There are good female pundits/show hosts, nobody is denying that and I'm not at all saying we shouldn't have women on football shows on the tv, but it just feels as though every single game/show etc now, they have to fulfill a quota. My comments aren't just based around the BBC or football/TV, I've seen it for myself in life where recruiters have said "we need more females, or more ethnicity in our workplace" and that's when it's not right. People should be given any job on merit not because of their gender/ethnicity etc. Figures are a few years old but the BBC currently has about 47% female workers 16% non white. Women actually outnumber men in the UK and the non white population is about 18% so this quota filling you talk of clearly isn’t working as there’s a still a disproportionate (albeit small) number of white men in roles. One can only imagine the percentages 10 or 20 years ago. If there has been a drive recently then the current numbers are an all time high suggesting real, real inequalities in the past. Your last sentence couldn’t be more true - “People should be given any job on merit not because of their gender/ethnicity etc.” In an ideal world of course, but empirically, demonstrably, white men have been given roles over women/people of colour through the BBCs entire history. I’m a white man and I don’t feel even 1% threatened by any of these “woke agendas” people speak of. 1
Grebfromgrebland Posted 14 November 2024 Posted 14 November 2024 If only he didn't call out Israel his job would still be there. The links between the BBC head and Israel are irrefutable now and the intention is clear - support the complete destruction of Palestine and the expansion of "greater Israel " or get taken off air. This applies to sky news too.
Gamble92 Posted 14 November 2024 Posted 14 November 2024 I don't like to feed the middle aged men toxicity that is absolutely exploited by banter pages and the like by putting up clickbait about Alex Scott. She and others like her are wrongly targeted at times like this and it's pretty disgusting to be honest. But it's quite obvious the BBC are caught between knowing they should go with their best choice (Chapman) because they can't risk it going the way of Football Focus and many others. Yet know that is nowhere "progressive" enough for the modern era so want to get a woman sidekick in. Which he's rightly said no to. 2
notnow john Posted 15 November 2024 Posted 15 November 2024 He’s coughed up the 4 million he owed in taxes, just before he was due in court to face the HMRC. Such.a man of the people. 1

Which he's rightly said no to. looking at the opinions on women comms, co comms, woman pundits, etc i see as many opinions by young lads and some ladies as much as middle aged men, but as a middle aged man, i do prefer male pundits, comms and co comms, but I don't care who presents. If Alex Scott presented it wouldn't bother me as I think the format is rubbish anyway, would much prefer a longer in depth show like Chris Kamara had on sky on sundays. I think this is an opporunity for the BBC to make a great show, but i doubt they'll take it. hope that wasn't too toxic.
AyewJoking Posted 15 November 2024 Posted 15 November 2024 I think BBC always had a woman in mind as Lineker's successor. Alex Scott would be ok
Super_horns Posted 15 November 2024 Posted 15 November 2024 Obviously not as host but maybe the winner of this will find themselves on MOTD?! https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cde76rn63r7o
