He desperately needs to get off to a decent start.
Not only for himself personally but also to a least try and get majority of fans behind him.
Hope I’m wrong but I don’t have a lot of confidence that we will.

Rodgers at first was brilliant the press , the movement but for whatever reason he stopped doing what served him well and that was the beginning of his downfall

I also think he got the arse when the board wouldn’t give him any funds in the summer

The problem was he said the squad needed a major rebuild then he found out the club had no money. So he had just told the players they weren’t good enough then had try to get a performance out of them. 🙁

Rodgers was spot on when he said we needed to buy a few players. With what's gone on since, I think he was probably lied to by the board.

Still don't like him though

When you look at the team Rodgers used, he spent loads of money only to play the players brought in by Puel.  Although it was likely more a case of not having any money to continue spending, even if we were awash with it I'm not sure you'd want to be letting Brendan spend any of it.  I'm not giving him Youri, cos that was a Puel catch initially.  So Fofana, JJ and arguably Castagne.

A season or 2 of mid-table mediocrity in The Championship isn't necessarily a bad thing. Out of the spotlight, no dramas etc. I can't remember many seasons in the last 20/25 when our nerves haven't been shredded.

That was basically 2010-12 albeit a brief scare from Sousa.

Depends what you are doing in that time, if you are overspending on wages and not achieving you are just growing debt.

If you are being sensible and bring though youth, developing player and selling on at a profit to improve I agree.

100% he was lied to aswell as Enzo (no signings in Jan) and even Ruud (Woyo as our only signing). We forget that Rudkin and Top, on top of all their other faults, are 2 very dishonest people, who've been lying and winging it for years.

Week into appointment and backroom team not announced, needs to hurry up so they can get to work as I’m guessing pre season starts a week on Monday?

This is what actually winds me up most about Martin’s appointment, I feel odd saying that out loud.

As others have stated, I would haven’t chosen him but I at least thought that the club may have learnt from their mistakes by not trying to get a manager to work with these Sunday league level coaches.

If Reeves, Sadler and Hughes are all still here, we’re cooked.

The summer we spunked a fortune on Soumare, Daka, Bertrand and Vesty all on ridiculous wages absolutely killed us and from then on and meant when we really needed a refresh we were had well and truly bollocksed, Rodgers conveniently forgot all that to paddle the mantra he wasn’t being supported.

Rogers was actually worse than the other

Pair of ****s.

But they've give him a run for his money recently..

Agree. Didn’t want him but the clowns running the club have now got to get behind him and let him bring his own team in to give him every opportunity to succeed.

Possession for possession's sake might work in league one with superior resources.

Martin press conferences are like asking ChatGPT to insert Linkedin buzz words.

Pure garbage of a manager, so of course he's managing LCFC!

First friendly is Sat 11th, so I imagine they might start back Mon 6th - 2 weeks today.

I reckon they might be in Thursday/Friday of the week before for the fitness checks and then into a full week after that.

I'm sure they said on the radio the other day they're back on 29 June.

That would make sense, it was 30th June last year.

Problem was that they came back end June but didn’t bother to get fit

I’m like a broken record on this but the date they come back is irrelevant if the mindset of the players remains the same. And martin strikes me as the type who will double down on the approach that we can play our way out of this division rather than being fit enough to cope with the challenges.

100%. It was like that with Maresca I’d say, we definitely looked fitter (or more than we have any time since) and it was that more than the tactical style that saw us through the first months before we really looked better by the September.

Best thing Martin could do is recognise this and start with the basics before introducing more of the tactical style he wants. But like you say, it feels like he is likely to prioritise that over fitness unfortunately.
