The B & Q estate

Also live right by the train station, one of my regular running routes goes through/round that estate - might try and avoid that until they've moved on, then...

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!!

I'm holding @leicsmac responsible for this - what's the point in having a physicist on the forum if he doesn't keep us up to date with the laws of physics?

Just be glad they didn't grow to twice the size rather than merely a little bit - quantum mechanics stipulates that's possible...if unlikely.

My brother and his kids were in town from england for just over a week and on their way  back home now. Hate the feeling of saying bye because even though we say we will see eachother soon, 5 years will fly by. Wish we didnt live so far apart. Sigh. :(

Yes I did. I bought my youngest a helium balloon for five quid and he let go of it before my wallet was back in my pocket ?. Nice part of London.

It is, I live not far away. Nice spot for a picnic or a kick around.

Had our presentation awards evening for the U10's this evening.

I did a little speech about the season and each player which went down well with the kids and the parents I think.

Then at the end I was presented with a card that everyone had signed, an engraved pen and coffee mug and a Nike coaches top with my initials on it.

Was really touching and felt quite emotional actually. All the aggravation of the season was worth while in the end :)

Good on you. I'm sure your little speech meant a lot in helping the kids feel part of something that matters. I imagine the bit about each player would have particularly meant a lot to those kids who aren't the "stars" of the team.

These things are remembered, too. I still think back to the bloke who ran our cub scouts team & the couple who ran the actual cubs/scouts meetings.

Gifts to treasure, I'm sure, given the appreciation they represent.

It's not what matters most, but did they manage to keep winning a few games or was that just a honeymoon period under the new manager? :D

Thanks Alf :)

I did a bit of a play on the 'Mr Men' characters and they each got a trophy in addition to the main awards of Players player, manager/coaches player and most improved player. For the kids who aren't the "stars" of the team, they were things like "Mr Happy", "Mr Commitment", "Mr Consistent", "Mr Motivator", "Mr Reliable" etc, and as I was talking all the kids were pointing to who they thought I meant :D.

I've got one kid who's a real pain in the ass so he was "Mr Maverick" as he's a nightmare to manage, doesn't listen, pisses around and generally does it his way - but he's a cracking little player lol

Yeah the honeymoon period didn't last long :( We were a victim of our own success early doors really as teams are then 'streamed' for the second half of the season based on the results of the first half. We moved up a couple of divisions in ability and found it really difficult to get a win but the boys still kept their spirits up.

All change next season as we go to 9 a side, bigger pitch, bigger goals and also off-side/linesmen. I had a training session recently where I tried to explain the rules to them which was interesting lol

Strange day at work today. Gypsies/travellers/Irish Cockwombles (not sure what the PC term is these days, I think it's Irish Cockwombles) have taken over the entire industrial estate I work on in Loughborough. Bailiffs have been to serve their notice, they're refusing to leave. Not sure what the next step is but I'm off work the next 2 days so I'm sad to know I won't be around to see it all kick off again in the morning

Got the same thing where I live and they are absolute scum.

Kids throw rocks at cars, fire BB guns at people going into work.

stole 3 bikes at the village shop in 3 hours.

Blatently enter gardens and open sheds and jump about on kids trampolines in the garden.

one of them has ginger hair( which is not a crime btw) but Irish accent and ginger hair descriptions after every crime?

This is the worst bit,the police do FA and found out today THEY actually escorted them there.

The landlord paid the last lot off,but is not doing it again.

We have a local tree surgeon and the cheeky twats knocked on the door saying that they were his boss and needed paying.

Luckily,as the tree surgeon lives in the village and is known, the owner didn’t fall for it.

My list could go on.

They have eyes everywhere.

Finally got a picture of all of the little buggers. In for their first jabs tomorrow and 4 of them off a week on Thursday :(

You can tell just by the fact it's up front all alone the nearest one is going to be inquisitive. The black on the right has look in the eyes that says it'll be a right little tearaway.
