The fact there seems to be an obsession with in ear earbuds these days. You know the ones with the bit of rubber that you shove right into your ear canal. I hate shoving things in my ear like that, but these days its almost impossible to find decent ones that just sit in your ear like the Apple earpods.

Alot of people like the earbuds and each to their own, it's all about what you prefer, but does anyone else find the earbuds are uncomfortable and hurt after a while?

I actually quite like the in ear rubber earphones.

Oh yeah people like what they like, and I don't want to ban them, but they are almost the only option these days. There's still a place for two types, not every earphone has to have something you shove halfway into your ear. It's like someone has decided that's the perfect design and we can do away with all others.

Yeah I prefer the in-ear ones. Much more comfortable. The other non-in-ear ones hurt my ears after a short time.

The amount kids I’ve seen on Facebook/insta in Liverpool/man u shirts/baby grows that they’ve been bought for Christmas by their dads who have never been anywhere near, let alone born in those cities.

I feel like the generation of supporting your local team, where you come from Is pretty much dead. I feel sorry for the kids more than anything. I’m sure they’ll be really happy that they grow up to support successful teams but there’s nothing like the connection you feel to your local home town club.

I'd go one further and say most self labelled 'No Context' memes arent funny anymore.

Was born in Leicester, but moved across the pond as a baby. Been a big supporter/fan of Leicester since the very early 90s or so.  It was that or support Liverpool/Arsenal/Manutd. No thanks. Also, football wasnt big here and won't be professionally for a long time. I do support TFC but it's just not the same level of play.

Hope my kids continue to support city but that's up to them. They won't be allowed to wear any other football tops in this house though :)

I don't see anything wrong with supporting a team where you are not from (if it's a long time family thing etc). I agree with you though that going to a local game is better and it's more of a possibility in a place like England/europe......but i think we all kind of want our kids to support 'our' team if possible.

The game has gone global, people have moved for career and personal reasons but doesn't mean you can't have a mad love for the team (even if you werent born there but your parents were etc).

I would give my left nut (i don't need it, I've got 2 kids) to be a season ticket holder at the KP but my life doesn't allow for that right now. :(

Were they ever funny? I always think with these things that surely removing them from their context takes out any funnyness that they had, if there was any. The football ones are the dumbest, everyone that's watching them knows what the context is and so it's redundant. All just silly shite.

Insensitivity grinds my gears.

Last week (?) we had a police department in America show off a 'homeless quilt' which was just cardboard boxes stuck together.

Now this:

Quote

A Michigan fire department has launched an investigation after firefighters posed for a photo in front of a burning house.

"Crews take a moment to get a selfie on New Years!" said the caption on the image, report local media.

The picture of the crew members was posted on the Detroit Fire Incidents Facebook page.

City fire officials said the house and nearby homes were vacant and the crew was marking a colleague's retirement.

Detroit Fire Commissioner Eric Jones called the photo "inappropriate and unprofessional" as he announced the internal investigation.

In a statement to WXYZ-TV, Mr Jones said: "There are a lot of ways to celebrate a retirement. Taking a photo in front of a building fire is not one of them."

The photo was later removed amid a backlash in comments on the post.

Seems typical of the self-aggrandising, self-promoting, largely arrogant men and women from most fire and rescue services.

I have worked alongside these people most seem to be of similar disposition. Not all "heroes and lifesavers" wear a fireproof suit and a helmet.

Parents, particularly mothers, it seems, using the self check-outs at the supermarket as some sort of training session for their children. I use them for speed and convenience and they hold everything up whilst their offspring repeatedly fail to grasp the concept of passing the barcode in front of the reader. "No darling, you have to turn the (insert item) so that the stripy thing is facing that screen thingy, when it bleeps, it's been scanned". That was an exchange I heard today.

I agree, and I don't think I've said anything to suggest that I think it should..

I'm not that old and I'm certainly not miserable and I understand you wanting to spend time with your kids. However, particularly during the busy hectic festive shopping period, parents should take a look around at the lengthy queues at the checkouts and say "not today" when their offspring are already whinging.

Sometimes that makes things slower.

Queue jumpers - in my experience it’s mostly pensioners who “innocently” shuffle into the queue and then look shocked when challenged about it

If I thought it was caused by a lack of faculty I’d let it go but some of these slysters are sharper than a tin tack.

I've seen posts (mainly on Facebook) about the Australian bushfires guilt tripping people into donating money. One in particular was about how much was donated when Notre Dame burnt down. The post in question was something like 'what is wrong with humanity when a church is more important than our wildlife' or something along those lines.

Now obviously the Australian bushfires are more of a tragedt and I have donated money myself but every funding page I've seen has eclipsed it's original target and I even saw 1 that has reached £15m. The intent of these posts are probably in good faith but I don't like them trying to shame people into parting with their money

It's the 'pray for Australia' posts I can't stand, Nah praying ain't gonna help but donating might.

I get what you mean about shaming though, I feel the same every time I see filthy rich celebs on Comic Relief.
