Troy Deeney

They reckon that we were after Efe Ambrose a few weeks back:

"Leicester and Crystal Palace were both linked with the defender earlier in the summer but their interest in the 6”3 defender appears to have cooled, leaving the door open for the Clarets."

10 million for Deeney is just laughable in itself. I'll be disappointed if we do end up getting him because that money could have been spent so much more wisely.

Oh who?

People seem to think the money quoted for deeney could be better spent but fail to offer examples.

I'll also reiterate a previous post of mine. If the club sanction the purchase and NP gets the player, then clearly the club can afford it and Nige wants deeney. If that's the case then it'll be considered good business.

Giving our rivals ten million to build a promotion possible squad that could stop us getting promotion is ludicrous.

Nige needs to look elsewhere.

Did you sleep through our promotion?

We are in the prem and Watford stayed down how are they our rivals?

This place gets more like the twilight zone every day.

People putting hope we don't get Campbell when he has gone to Palace already.

Also someone asking if we should go for Remy after he failed his medical.

FFS can't we just sign Messi and be done with it all.

...Harrys about to splash the cash again!.. Do you think we should be in for Deeney at 9m +???....

Have they put a bid in then?

Schlupp is a better left back than Messi.

Think you may have missed that the original post was tongue in cheek.

It wasn't a serious comment, some of their forum made out that we are rivals (probably taking the piss) and how we are still so upset about how good their squad is compared to ours and Deeney's goal last May.

I'll be delighted if they blow 8 figures on Deeney, not only will it devastate Watford it'll also be the final nail in CodPiece's managerial coffin.

Probably never heard of Deeney until his name was talked about a potential target.

Suggests the chairman is doing the business rather than Redknapp himself - is that the way everyone works now?

Austin would be first choice there playing up front on his own..so Deeney could only be a sub.

Troy has scored a lot of goals at championship level, I think I'd rather we went after someone more established at a higher level than the championship though!

the trouble is that means expensive! :o  :nigel:

Not sure he'd be an automatic starter if he came to us either

Established premier league strikers generally only play for the top teams and everyone else makes do with what is left. I wouldn't pay more than £7m for Deeney though
