Pearson and McArthur incident

I reckon McArthur made some comment while he was on the floor like 'I dodged a bullet not coming here'  'Youre the one that will have relegation on your CV' 'That's what you missed out on' - that sort of ilk - NP got mad and refused to let him up. It looks like NP is saying 'You what' to Macarthur while he has his hands on his throat. When NP did let JM get up he probably said something else to NP, or NP was still angry hence the shirt grabbing to annoy him - show him who was boss etc. Does seem like NP can be a bit of a bully at times

Nasty bullying and embarrassing behaviour from Pearson.

Already been totally blown out of proportion by the press which is inevitable so no doubt the dinosaurs at the FA will be pressured into punishing Pearson.

Was sat right behind the dug out so had a good view of it and it was all abit of a laugh and joke between them before Pearson got hold of his shirt and wouldn't let him go.

He was blatantly trying to be clever and stop him getting back on the pitch to defend our attack but has come across as being a total knob.

Hats off to McCarthy for handling himself really well and not making too much of it.

Definitely started as a lighthearted joke that got a bit messy... but the embarrassing bit for me was the MOTD interview. Instead of just laughing it off as the joke it was obviously supposed to be, he gives it the big'un with "don't worry about me, I can look after myself" Not sure if it was said tongue in cheek but it really made me cringe!

FAO Danny Murphy- we chose not to sign McArthur, why would Pearson be annoyed at him for that?

That's not my impression from NP's comments yesterday. I think that Wigan publicising the deal brought other offers out and MacArthur likely upped his demands. Therefore, if could be said he made himself unsignable as much as we pulled out.

Given how the season has panned out, we could have done with him in the midfield.

I don't think it can be dismissed as "nothing". If Pardew had done it to one of our players instead of Pearson, everyone would be calling him a cvnt of the highest order.

No, it wasn't nothing, you're right. But the proportion has been blown up spectacularly. The way journalists, Twitter (the beacon of all things proportionate) and pundits are going on however, it's made out like he's pinned him down by the throat and giving him a few right hooks.

My god this is getting too much attention. If we were comfortably mid-table I bet almost everyone here would find it funny. Almost reminded me of when Waghorn took Pearson out then Pearson turned it into a play fight, just with a genuine "word" and a shirt-pull tagged on as McArthur clearly said something that might have overstepped the mark. Don't dwell on it - neither parties involved are

Awkward behaviour of a man under serious pressure. Good idea for us to move on quickly and support Nigel regardless as will be manager til end of season at least probably.

I wouldn't be surprised in the FA got involved.  The PL is a product marketed world-wide and that incident can tarnish its image, however innocuous the intent.  They banished him to the stands last time, I'd expect this to be taken more seriously.

All the time during the incident, McArthur is trying to get up and get on with the game, even after having his throat grabbed,o he pats Pearson.

Pearson on the other hand pins him to the floor, and grabs his shirt and wont let him go.

What an idiot.

Pearson made himself look a prat and his comments on motd that he can look after himself...well...think he's defo losing the.plot!

I find it hard to believe that some are suggesting it is really nothing. It is unbelievably embarrassing for our manager to behave like that - and his explanation is possibly even more bizarre. ......

I have no doubt McArthur said something unsavoury to Nige, but he is a professional Manager and should never have reacted like that. I am sure on reflection that Nige regrets his actions, The FA will almost certainly fine, ban him, just shows the pressure Nige must be feeling.
