The Kinder thread brought a few names back - quite an impressive list, really:
Vålerenga (@davieG?)
Don't see them posting much anymore. Lost a bit of quality with them gone. Give us a shout when you can and tell us how you're doing and why you've left!
Even @Bert, @Babylon and @Corky have gone rather quiet lately.
I'm still around mate, just very rarely post now as I just don't see the point. I don't remember a time when everyone was quite so polarised and entrenched in their views or unwilling to see other points of view which is seemingly making rational debate incredibly difficult so I just tend to hold my tongue and just have a read instead of posting
It's quite sad really as i remember having some decent back and forths on here in the past that were quite enjoyable, even if at the end everyone agreed to disagree haha.. Cheers for the shout out though!

No photos to share unfortunately, but I'm seeing plenty of good wildlife from where i work at home. A great spotted woodpecker has recently decided to start using the bird feeder, Sparrowhawks, Buzzards, and even the local Red Kites have become more prevalent. I believe there's a nest between Broughton and Dunton, plus there are plenty of Hare's around the fields when out on a walk. Lovely stuff!
Shame to see the Peregrine's on Leicester Cathedral have given up on their eggs though, there'll be no new chicks there this year

Is there a more self absorbed pair of arseholes on the planet than these two? Talk about timing, what a contrast to the way his grandparent behaves in front of the public.
I also didn't realise the part of Canada they had chosen to leave for was Los Angeles, imagine my shock when I found out.
And to think they, only last month, despite letting it be known they wanted to live in LA, said they were refusing to move while Trump was in charge. Great choice in LA too, It's almost as if they decided they wanted to live in a back slapping bubble

Although it might not be the best thing to do during this terrible situation we are in. I hate to say it to according to government guidelines, all sites are operational where it is safe to do so.
If you're in the trade and on here stay safe people.
I work for an Engineering Consultancy, and all of the jobs we are involved in are still running, albeit, mainly large scale and schools. The housing sector has pretty much ceased though. As you said, where it's safe, they are to continue, unless the Site Manager or Client deem otherwise. We are still expected to be doing site visits and snagging etc, though obviously in safe, minimal numbers, rather than the whole team rocking up at once. Using AR/camera fitted hard hats and similar technologies, some surveys are able to be conducted from home, with just one person on site with the tech, while others view and comment from home.

The same people who laughed and laughed at the idea that people wanted to leave to get blue passports back (I'm still yet to meet anyone who actually gave a toss about that), are now crying over a 50 pence piece. It's quite pathetic, and delicious at the same time

Federico Bernadeschi on the verge of joining Juventus for just over £35 million after completing his medical. Great signing!

may be - but man city have a very poor record when it comes to integrating stellar signings in to a team. Their inconsistency is the only thing that is consistent about them.
Most teams struggle with the integration of big new signings, even ourselves. Looking back at some of their good ones, they've had players like Yaya, Fernandinho, Silva, Aguero, De Bruyne all hit the ground running and that's not a bad list to have. Stones obviously hasn't but that's as he's not that great anyway.
I still think they'll be considerably better this year. As things stand, I think Chelsea are in a worse position.

They'll probably still concede loads like last season.
None of the signings really are of excellent value.
Value or not, Walker, Danilo and Mendy are huge upgrades on Clichy, Sagna, Kolarov and Zabaleta (though I always liked him). Man City will be considerably stronger this year. Whether they'll win the league though, I'm unsure.

I've read that too... yet my instinct from playing the game told me that was a penalty (and no doubt this is why the referee in this case instinctively pointed to the spot - normally the best judge of a situation).
That game just showed how much of a mess two key laws are in the game and the dire need to have a clear cut definition.
In the handball case, I think the common thinking is if you end up handling the ball due to your own poor technique it's difficult to describe it as accidental. Okay you didn't design things like that, but you're still at fault - getting the ball blasted against you is something completely different.
Then the offside decision... its s brave one, but I can see why it's given because the player in the six yard box is within the goalkeepers vision and could have effected the (poor) attempt to save the initial header. Old school rules, that would always be offside, these days, it's anyone's interpretation.
So ideally, what is needed is a way to take away the ambiguity - if that's by declaring all hand balls as hand balls and removing the notion of offside altogether except for in the penalty area where if you're offside, you're offside - so be it!
I've not seen the offside decision, but I'm in total agreement with regards to everything you've said about the handball. It was a penalty, no argument. If I was playing and that happened to the opposition team, I'd be going mad for a pen to be given. Then if it had happened to me, I'd be expecting to have a pen given against me. Absolute madness that such a key part of the game can be taken in two such different ways. It's a pen, end of.

Wow - the ref in the women's euro game (England vs Spain) has just bottled a decision. Having blown and awarded a penalty for hand ball to Spain, seconds later it becomes a drop ball.
in my mind, she was right in giving the penalty.
Having read up more about it. Before the tournament, they all had meetings saying that if the ball is deflected or played on to the players own arm, then the penalty doesn't need to be given. It was pointed out that the ball came up off the England player's own thigh on to her arm so no penalty was given. It's absolutely rubbish and I don't agree with it, it should have been a pen, but apparently those are the rules as it's classed as unintentional

EDIT: Explained slightly better in this BBC article

When someone asks a question or for your opinion on something then does totally the opposite or tells you the opposite....why even ask in the first place?!
Just do/tell me save time with the whole charade of asking the question!
I used to have an ex girlfriend who did this all the time. Stressed about something, asked for advice then never ever took it, then got stressed again. It was infuriating. There's a name for idiots like that..

My one possible regret I have is that I did A-levels and uni rather than take up the offer of an apprenticeship (or something similar - part engineering course and half on the job learning) as a CAD designer when I was 16. I'd have been a whole lot better off and no student loan.
There's a hell of a lot we disagree on, but I'm 100% with you on this. I wanted to do an apprenticeship (or similar), but got coerced in to A levels and Uni which was a waste of my time long term.

I didn't intend to start a debate was just an observation and a simple question.
I understand re the environmental issues, perhaps I shouldn't have included buildings but it does seem rather like empire building with all the older buildings they've taken over, again I'm all for retaining these.
Rather the point I was making was they seem to be awash with money that is not being directly spent on courses so my question was where is this money coming if not from the students?
Yea sorry Davie, I wasn't insinuating you you were starting a debate, I merely added that on the end as I don't really have time for getting in to one (with whoever may have replied etc). That's a valid point and I can see where the questions are coming from. Unfortunately, I don't know 100% where the money would have come from, and it is quite a sum of money, but I can only assume savings have been accumulating in the anticipation of a new building, government grants and also investments in to the building which will be more than paid back because of the efficiency of the building etc. universities also recieve huge amounts of money from donations, businesses etc.
EDIT: 2 quick articles outlining some of the money spent and earned by Universities.

DeMontfort Uni seems to have plenty of cash to splash on vanity projects, fancy buildings, taking over roads etc where does that all come from?
To be fair, the new building is at the forefront of the Passivhaus movement and the carbon reductions from a general 'new build' are ridiculously good. If it (unfortunately) wasn't so expensive to do, all buildings should be built to similar standards. In that regard, the regulations are constantly getting tighter by roughly 10% per year, so perhaps within our lifetime, buildings with such effective carbon reduction techniques may be commonplace. The fact it's seen as a vanity project at the moment is simply because of the price and the look. Paying the extra money up front for that will be repaid over the buildings lifetime.
I'm not starting a debate, just giving another side to the argument btw
