Guest Col city fan Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 I don't think I've ever seen a pro footballer that lives in such a dreamland as Jeff. He's a purely instinctual player. I recall him running at their full back late in yesterday's game and thinking, 'only Jeff can do that in our side' (where he won a corner by skinning the player). Then he did something completely random and I thought 'only Jeff can do that in our side'.
Corky Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Not really "funny things Schlupp did" but probably one of the funniest things I've ever seen at a football match was during the Schlupp's mercifully brief spell at #10 today. After a here to very ineffective 10 minutes or so in that role involving the usual surging pace and irregular touch of Schlupp's usual play (but concentrated into a far smaller area than usual), the ball was played into him 35 yards from goal and with nobody at his back and a good 10 yards of space to run into. As he controlled the ball it seemed the whole Kop cried in unison "TUUUUURN". Never heard anything like it before at the football. Jeff took 2 or 3 touches and laid it off the direction he was facing. Don't ever change. Same, can't remember anything like it before. And for him to then completely ignore the crowd and do his own thing For all the triers, grafters and flair players you have, Schlupp is needed because no-one has a clue what he'll do in the same move and it will pay off at times.
fleckneymike Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 His versatility is a huge asset though. The fact Ranieri mentioned him in the three players we definitely won't be selling speaks volumes for the players potential and regard with which clubs and managers hold him.
Bettsj2 Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Or it could have been the bit where he was on the left wing near the end with a great opportunity to counter, and rather than putting in his usual burst of pace, he literally turned around and ran around in a circle with the ball (before losing it). That was Kante you racist bastard!
foxfanazer Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Just love this guy. Such limited technical ability but his physical attributes and his attitude make him brilliant to watch
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 So many times you watch him and he just clearly has no idea what's going on but is somehow getting by. Just seems to take him a few extra seconds to work out what he needs to do but then his pace allows him to make up for lost time. I'm a fan but he's clearly pretty stupid.
lifted*fox Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Imagine how dangerous he'd be if he was switched on for the full 90 minutes instead of spending large periods of time in dreamland. I love watching Schlupp but I swear every game I say "Jeff's dreaming again!" while he just stands there and watches the ball go by.
foxychik Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Jeff don't ever change theres always that split second where you realise his brain is engaging and a look like he's woken from a dream of being a great footballer to realise he's playing football, followed by a look of confusion/panic just before one of his moments happens
Vicki Vixen Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 He looked knackered towards the end yesterday. Saw him looking very hopefully towards the subs board when Mahrez came off.
NewEnglandFox Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Gotta love the unintentional awesomess of Schlupp getting a 5th yellow only to serve the suspension during the League Cup game.
whoareyaaa Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 There was one moment in the game when the ball was coming from high up in the air he had no one around him and when it touched his foot it just went straight out for a throw in, he had a cheeky smile after it happened he must know, we know!
Countryfox Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Jeff don't ever change theres always that split second where you realise his brain is engaging and a look like he's woken from a dream of being a great footballer to realise he's playing football, followed by a look of confusion/panic just before one of his moments happens I think he is a football android ..... and the real Jeff Schlupp was eaten by a big seed pod thing under his bed.
TJB-fox Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Think he needs a rest, looked knackered at Southampton and bit leggy yesterday
Charl91 Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 That was Kante you racist bastard! Oops. Awkward! Explains why he didn't burn them with his pace then.
sdb Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 He looked knackered towards the end yesterday. Saw him looking very hopefully towards the subs board when Mahrez came off. And put his head in his hands when his number didn't come up!
Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Did anyone see the mess of the Southampton right backs face in the Liverpool game today? Still walking wounded from another Schlupp clash of heads
Lambert09 Posted 26 October 2015 Posted 26 October 2015 There was a moment in the last 10 when we were under pressure where he stood in no mans land for a good 3 minutes not marking, not getting in a good position to break. Just simply taking a breather. Can't believe we kept him on for the 90, poor lad looked exhausted
BrummieFOX Posted 26 October 2015 Posted 26 October 2015 Did anyone see the mess of the Southampton right backs face in the Liverpool game today? Still walking wounded from another Schlupp clash of heads Yeh it looked dreadful didn't it! Like a bit of playdough instead of an eye socket.
Finnaldo Posted 26 October 2015 Posted 26 October 2015 Yeh it looked dreadful didn't it! Like a bit of playdough instead of an eye socket. Fuched him Schlupp.
SB87_LCFC Posted 26 October 2015 Posted 26 October 2015 Has he been taking diet tips from GTF? Surprised they never re-built Zanzibar/Republic around him, he spent more time there than on the training pitch!
StanSP Posted 31 October 2015 Posted 31 October 2015 first one today . kicked the ball too far when a bit of composure would have done
Frank to be Posted 31 October 2015 Posted 31 October 2015 He's so poor sometimes, such a woeful waster of opportunities
